Park in the hikers’ car park, accessible via the D576 towards Beauregard from the D943.
The Visorando app is highly recommended between (1) and (4)
(S/E) Head towards the southern corner of the car park and take the path heading south-east, running parallel to the road at the very start (sign saying “No vehicles”). Further on, at the junction with a path, continue straight ahead.
(1) At the next junction, at the “945m” marker, turn left towards Puy de Louchadière. You will soon enter a beech forest. Look out for yellow markings, which you should follow carefully all the way to the summit of the hill. Further on, a small yellow PR® sign indicates that you should turn left (contrary to the Yellow Cross markings for the other two paths, which are not shown on the maps). Further on, ignore a path on the right (Yellow Cross) and you will reach a junction with a faint path on the left, next to an iron post bearing a slightly faded green inscription reading "aller".
(2) Ignore this path (Yellow Cross) and continue straight on towards the yellow sign “Sommet du Puy de Louchadière”. After a steep climb, you’ll reach a small sign reading “Point de vue 20m; retour”. Carry on straight ahead to the viewpoint, then straight on again, leaving the yellow markings behind. Further on, ignore a path on the right, then another a little further on, just before you’re treated to a rather lovely view.
(3) The descent follows a path that is poorly marked in places, winding down or cutting straight across the slope where possible. Keep heading generally south and check your position from time to time using the app’s GPS. Further down, you’ll reach the junction you passed on the way up, at the iron post, and rejoin the yellow markings.
(2) Head right for a few metres, then immediately leave the yellow markings to follow the path on the left (marked with a Yellow Cross). The path, although unmarked, is clearly visible. Further down, ignore a forest track on the right near a young fir plantation, then leave the forest. Walk along a meadow on your right to reach a wide path.
(4) Turn right and you will immediately reach a crossroads with four paths. Sculpture by Thierry Courtadon "SHHH!". Continue straight ahead, ignoring all side paths, until you reach Beauregard, with a bakery on the right,
(5) Continue straight on through the hamlet, following the red and white GR®4 and 89 markings (which you will now follow unless otherwise indicated), passing a fountain and the covered wash house. At the end of the street, turn right.
(6) At the fork in the road, keep left.
(7) Pass a cross, then ignore a path on the right and you will come to a four-way junction, three of which are marked GR®.
(8) Turn right onto the GR®441.
(9) Before the hamlet of Le Bouchet, at the junction with some small roads, turn onto the path on the right. Further on, ignore a path on the right and you will reach a fork in the road.
(10) Follow the left-hand path to return to the car park (S/E).
In the car park, climb the few steps behind an information board for a view of the Puys Chopine, Dôme and Côme.
