Park in the square in front of the church in Sainte-Gemmes-le-Robert.
(S/E) Take the D517 towards Izé (east). At the intersection with the D552, opposite the corner house, cross with a disc of the pilgrims of Mont Saint-Michel (17th century), take the passage parallel to the road along the housing estate, and join theGRP® crossroads of the Mayenne Profonde.
(1) Take it on the left and reach the first buttress of Le Rochard. Arrive at La Planche (old mill).
(2) Go up the valley on the left towards Pierre Fontaine, a 15th-century manor house. Leave theGRP® here and continue to the right through a mid-mountain landscape, climbing to the edge of the Gros Roc woods, towards the springs (abundant in spring) until you reach the hairpin bend.
(3) Change slopes towards La Gaulerie. There are numerous viewpoints beneath the towering Rochard. Reach the pretty village of Montdésert. Continue on to find the Arnaudières crossroads.
(4) Turn slightly left along the hillside to make a small circular loop via La Chaîne, with a fountain on your left as you climb the dirt track. Return to the Arnaudières crossroads.
(4) Turn right onto the path leading to La Saulinière and continue along this path until you reach the oratory.
(5) Cross the D517 and continue down the paths towards Bourg-Chevreau, a surprising village typical of the hamlets of Sainte-Gemmes-le-Robert but now almost deserted.
(6) Pass Le Gasseau, and the route becomes flatter towards the D517. Reach La Gripassière, a village with rich architecture (manor house, lodgings and adjoining octagonal tower housing the spiral staircase).
(7) Take the path on the left to reach the hamlet of Montabay.
(8) Turn right at Moulin de la Fosse, then climb back up to the D517 at the initial crossroads.
(1) Head to the village, which is worth a detour for its beautiful granite architecture, and return to the church car park (S/E).
