Start from the Foyer Rural car park (Route de Sainpuits).
(S/E) Head towards the village; in front of the EDF transformer, turn into the street on the left. At the Stop sign, turn left towards Perreuse (south-west). Pass the Fontaine des Gilets, then 100 m further on, take the path on the left (farm shed on the right). When you reach the Croix Saint-Nicolas, turn left and follow the path to the tarmac road.
(1) At this junction, take the small road leading down to the right. Walk 200 m to discover the source of the Loing and the memorial erected in 1994 tracing the course of the Loing.
(2) Continue along this road. At the next crossroads, turn right and carry on to the hamlet of Les Guittons.
(3) On leaving the village, take the small path on the left leading to the spring, which is actually the Loing’s first resurgence. From its source, the Loing flows underground and re-emerges here, only to go underground again a few steps further on and reappear a little further ahead. Retrace your steps and, once you reach the road, turn left. Continue through Les Gressiens and Les Rameaux.
(4) On leaving this hamlet, take the path on the left for 200 m. Head down the path on the right. It leads to the Montillon spring. One hundred metres past this fountain, take the road on the right. Watch out for traffic!
(5) When you reach the village of Sainte-Colombe, take the road branching off to the left towards Les Landris. You’ll pass the Fontaine d’Aubert (a good spot for a picnic). Walk right through the hamlet of Les Landris until you reach the next path on the right.
(6) Take this path, located 150 m past the last houses. Continue, ignoring the path on the left, cross the Loing, then head up towards the hamlet of Les Thomas. When you reach the road, turn right for a few metres.
(7) Then, immediately afterwards, take the dirt track on the left. When you reach the small road, turn right towards the Desleaux fountain, and head down to the spring and the wash house.
(8) Head back along the road to the junction 100m away and take the path opposite. Continue to the next road.
(9) As you walk down this path, you’ll pass the Boutin spring and wash house.
(10) A little further on, near the pond, a major underground river flows beneath your feet, feeding the Paris Basin’s water table. Walk up to the road and turn right. On the descent, take an open path leading to the Fontanelles spring. Follow this path back up, turn right onto the road and continue to the junction with a cross-road –watch out for traffic.
(11) Turn left, then, after 50 m, turn right onto the dirt track that leads back to the car park (S/E).
