Parking is available in a car park next to the kiosk at the start. On a sunny day, it is best to arrive early to find a parking space easily.
(S/E) Pass the kiosk and take the path that runs above the lake. Cross several small streams and follow this trail, which gradually approaches the lake while remaining relatively high above it, to reach the edge of a cliff on the left.
(1) This is the first viewpoint, looking south towards the 142 m high cliffs of Trælanípa! You can make a short return trip to the left, taking care, to get a better view of this vertiginous cove where fulmars flutter about.
Pass the intersection at the bench and climb up to the left, following the well-marked path. After a few steps, you will find the famous viewpoint on your left, just before the top of the cliff, with the lake that seems to hang over the ocean.
(2) Continue along the path to the top, then descend to the right through the grass. Stay a few metres from the edge of the cliffs and you will reach a rockier area. Continue carefully straight ahead (there is no longer a path) until you reach a viewpoint overlooking Bøsdalafossur waterfall and the jagged coastline stretching out in the background.
(3) Turn 90° to the right to return to the initial intersection. There are several markings that will help you reach this point. The "official" path passes higher than the route described here.
(1) Return to the starting point by retracing your steps from the beginning of the hike (S/E).
