Description of the walk

Coming from Mojstrana, at the entrance to Gozd Martuljek, turn left just after a wide bend. This small road quickly turns into a track through the forest. When you reach a junction in a forest clearing, turn left to park.

(S/E) Follow the wide track through the forest heading south (signposted ‘Slap 1, 2’).

After a few minutes, the track reaches the Martuljska Bistrica river, which feeds the Martuljek waterfalls.

(1) Cross the river via the bridge and turn right to follow the river upstream.

After a few man-made waterfalls, the valley floor narrows and you enter a narrow gorge, following a narrow path along a ledge. Shortly afterwards, you’ll reach a footbridge.

(2) Cross the river again using this footbridge, climb the stairs and reach a bridge offering a lovely view of the waterfall, where you can rest on the benches situated right next to it.

Carry on a little further past this bridge to get closer to the waterfall.

The return journey follows the same route (S/E).

After this first waterfall, you can also carry on to see the second waterfall, situated further up (a 110m drop in three stages). However, this involves an additional walk of about 1 hour.
