Simorre walks

The path climbs towards the high hills of Astarac, crosses the Bois d'Aguin and is embellished with wild orchids in season.

A beautiful hike between rivers, woods, meadows and fields around Simorre. The first part follows the Gimone Valley, along fields and through woods, then returns along the ridges with beautiful panoramic views.

A beautiful loop with very pleasant paths on the edge of the forest. Beautiful panoramic views await you, including a superb view of the village of Simorre and its fortified church. On the circuit, you will find a sculpture by Japanese artist Teruhisa symbolising the roof.

A walk for young and old, dotted with five works of art. In the Gers countryside, passing by the Meilhan Memorial.

This route will introduce you to the Meilhan Maquis, the best-known and most tragic feat of arms from the Second World War in the Gers department. You will also discover the Lasseube Chapel, situated in a secluded clearing amongst the oak trees.

The Kazé Drawing Trail invites you to sketch in the heart of nature. Along this 4 km circular route, there are stops offering an introduction to various techniques. Suitable for all levels, these information boards help you to observe the natural heritage around you.

At the start, you can admire the Cistercian church of Saint-Sauveur and, higher up, the abbey house (private property). The rest of the walk is a classic country hike where you will discover the hillsides of the Gers, the Lauze valley, the unmissable duck farm and, if you are lucky, three little donkeys will come to say hello. This route is very well signposted (yellow).

A circular starting from the Saramon leisure centre to discover the gentle slopes of the Gimone, the village of Saint-Élix and a sculpture by a Japanese artist representing the wind (Kazé in Japanese).

This walk, organised by the Monferran Plaves festival committee, will take place on Sunday 8 October 2023. Suitable for everyone, including families, with participants walking at their own pace, this 8 km walk offers a route alternating between paths, trails and roads, with a cumulative elevation gain and loss of approximately 160 metres. It can be shortened, if necessary, by returning to the village after 5 km, at the marker (6) on the map. A partnership has been established with the Gers Cancer League as part of the ‘Pink October’ campaign to support breast cancer prevention and the fight against the disease. A voluntary contribution of at least €3, to be donated to the League, will be requested at the start. Refreshments will be available at the marker (6) on the map.

A rural circuit through the valleys of the Gers, starting from Boulaur. The village is known for its abbey, which is open to visitors and offers local products.

From the strange bell tower of the church in Aussos to the shores of Lake Astarac and its beaches.
