Planet trail on the Causse

The route starts at the village school. Cars can be parked near the rubbish bins.

(S/E) This is where the model of the solar system begins. Stay on the GR®36 trail (also called "Chemin des loups" on this section). It is a 1/2 billionth scale model where each planet stop is made up of a descriptive panel created by the school children and a metal plate with a hole representing the planet on the scale of the model. After about 500 m, you will come to a fork.

(1) Leave the return path on your right and continue left on the GR®, heading south, until you reach a crossroads at IGN elevation 399.

(2) Leave the GR®36 by turning right at the information sign entitled "Des ouvrages infiniment variés" (approximately 250 m after the Neptune sign). The path descends and is wide at first, then after about 100 m, at the fork, turn left to reach the village.

(3) When you reach the village, take the road that descends to the right and then turns left.

(4) Pass the spring, then the village wash house. Go around the castle tower, then cross the bridge over the Assou to reach the village square. Walk along the church to the crossroads.

(5) Turn right, going around the town hall, and follow the small road uphill. Do not enter the garden of the house opposite, but take the path on the left. Pass the stadium and cross the Dassou stream. On your left, you will find the Moulin de Castel, an authentic water mill restored by a local association (for a visit, see practical information).
(6) Take the street on the right and cross the car park, then 50 m further on, turn right onto the grassy path.

(7) Cross the wetland area following an obvious path made of pontoons and grassy paths. You will arrive at a shaded play and picnic area. Continue to the bridge on the left.

(8) Cross the bridge, then follow the stream on your left in the opposite direction, keeping to the grassy path. This will take you to the road. Turn left here, then 50 m further on, turn right onto Chemin de Fontclause. At the fork, keep right. After crossing a small stream coming from the mill visible on the left (Moulin de Fontclause), you will come to a left-hand bend.

(9) In the bend, take the path on the right. Continue along this path for about 600 m until you reach another mill on the right (Moulin Grand).

(10) Turn right, go past the mill and continue until you come back up onto the road. Turn completely right and walk about 80 m along this road until you reach the path that branches off to the left.

(11) Take this road, which leads to the hamlet of Mas de Jammes. You will arrive at the main street of the hamlet.

(12) Turn right and stay on the main street. After the fire hydrant, turn left onto the street that goes uphill and then stay on the right until you return to the GR®36 at the intersection you encountered on the way there.

(1) Turn left and follow the same route back to the village school (S/E).

The best time of year to do this walk is undoubtedly spring. At this time of year, you can see some of the 40 species of orchids recorded in the municipality.

There is a water supply and toilets at the stadium.

The shaded picnic area is ideally located halfway along the route for a lunch break or simply a snack.
