Description of the walk

Situated on the road between Bonnevaux and Bouverans, you can’t miss this large lake at the foot of the Montagne du Laveron. Park in the designated car park, near the Chapelle du Lac.

(S/E) Take the path to the right of the chapel.

(1) Walk along the roadside and then pass under the railway bridge. Turn right towards the lake and continue along this road to explore the facilities in this Sensitive Natural Area.

(2) Listen to the birds of Lac de Bouverans via the observatory and the audio points located at the entrance. Don’t forget to try the ‘parabola’ experiment: sit on the bench and cup your hands around your ears. Thanks to the shape of the observatory, you’ll almost certainly be able to hear the cows grazing in the distance or the ducks resting in the middle of the lake a little more clearly.
Come back and carry on to the left.

(3) Take the footbridge to explore the farm ruins, learn more about the wildlife that lives here, and continue along the path to listen to the stories of our elders via the audio points.

All that remains is to retrace your steps to take a second look at this very special spot (S/E).

A lovely walk enjoyed with someone in a wheelchair! One of the rare occasions when nature is accessible.
The site is clean. Reading the information boards, you learn lots of interesting facts about the flora and fauna and, above all, about what makes this lake so special.
