Coastal path, countryside and karstic cave estuary starting from Port Manec'h

Three very different but perfectly complementary viewpoints over Névez:

  • The cliffs via the coastal path between Port Manec'h and Rospico
  • The countryside via the villages and thatched cottages between Kerascoët and Kervren
  • The karstic caves of the Aven from Anse de Poulguin to its estuary with the Bélon.

(2) Pass the Rospico car park and take a fairly steep path on the left. Continue on theGR®34, ignore the first path on the right and look for a second path, also on the right, a few dozen metres further on.

PR® (yellow) markings

(4) Turn right and cross the village until you reach an intersection. Turn left, then right, pass a campsite, continue on the path that veers left and continues along the Kerascoët road. Follow it to the next crossroads.

(5) Take the small road on the right and continue along a path that gradually descends towards a fountain and a stream. Cross it via a footbridge, go up the path that turns left then right at a riding centre. Pass the riding centre and ignore a path on the right to leave the PR®.

No markings

Continue to an intersection with a road.

(6) Follow it to the left and turn right at the village of Kernem. Follow this road until it intersects with the Port Manec'h road (D77). Cross it carefully, take the road opposite and pass the Kervren nursery. Note the beautiful group of old houses on the left.

PR® (Yellow) markings

(7) Continue along this small road until you reach a car park just before Château de Poulguin. Note the fountain on the left.

GR®34 markings (white and red)

(9) Follow the small road to the right, turn left at the next intersection, continue straight ahead and reach Port Manec'h Beach. Note the imposing Manoir Dalmore on your right.

Notes

Between (5) and (6), the paths can be very muddy in winter or after heavy rain. Waterproof hiking boots are strongly recommended.

Alternative starting points are the car parks at Rospico, Poulguin and Port Manec'h beach.

The coastal path can be busy in the summer months. It is much quieter once you venture further into the countryside.

Toilets are available at the starting car park and at Port Manec'h beach.

Picnic tables at the Poulguin car park.

A very beautiful hike, 1/3 coastal path GR34, 1/3 rural paths with thatched cottages and fountains, 1/3 superb Aven estuary. Our magnificent Brittany in all its splendour.

A very beautiful walk in the October sunshine!
The only downside: between points 5 and 6, you walk alongside a horse riding centre (Rospico ranch); this is where you should ignore the yellow PR markings and continue straight ahead.

The section along the cliffs is magnificent and not too crowded in June. We did it in the sunshine...

We have completed this route from Port Manech in Nevez to Pont Aven twice.
High tide and low tide.
High tide is preferable.
On the route, there is a tide mill and an oyster tasting bar.
Depending on the timetable and the tide, it is possible to make the route return by boat, subject to prior booking.
A very beautiful, easy and enjoyable hike.

Very beautiful hike, well-described and interesting route.
Just one small comment: why not indicate in the description that you should follow PR No. 4 on the way back?
Thanks again to the author!
