Senonches - La Loupe

This last stage of our journey through the Vlaminck region takes us from Senonches to La Loupe. Initially mainly wooded, the route then crosses the Eure valley, passing close to the Fontaine-Simon water park, where you can stop for refreshments. La Loupe station provides a quick return to Paris-Montparnasse.

This walk is part of a multi-day hike: In the land of Vlaminck

Description of the walk

Departure from Rond de Battenberg in Senonches.

(S) Follow the yellow and red markings towards the Butte des Sarrasins, a burial mound on the edge of the Étang Albert Rémy. Pass between the mound and the water's edge and continue along the fitness trail. Beautiful view of Senonches. Reach Rue de la Tourbière and follow the bank of a second small pond to the left. Cross Avenue de Badouleau.

(1) Follow the path opposite between the stadium fence and a hedge. At the edge of the forest, continue straight ahead. Be careful here: there are no more markings along the college sports fields. Cross Avenue des Evés (beautiful view of the church). Take the path opposite that leads to the Orée du Bois discovery trail. Cross Avenue du Général De Gaulle.

(2) Enter the car park. Head towards the picnic tables. (We recommend taking a tour of the site: there are information panels about the forest.) A few metres after the picnic tables, leave the track by turning left to cross the area along the fence of the forest house grounds. Find a small footbridge to cross a ditch. As you approach the D25, turn left to follow the road for a short distance until you reach Rond de la Hache.

(3) Cross the road carefully and continue straight ahead on the D140. Cross the abandoned railway bridge and turn left onto a path that runs alongside it to the picnic area near Rond de Monsieur.

(4) Take the wide path opposite. Shortly afterwards, turn left onto a path between plots 183 and 184. Follow it until it joins the Route Forestière de Francqueville. Turn left and follow this lane to a large crossroads. Take the left turn onto the gravel lane that crosses the old railway line via a bridge. You will arrive at Rond de Francqueville.

(5) Carefully cross the D25 again and continue straight ahead. After about 100 metres, leave the lane and follow the path on the right. Approach the road again, but do not cross it. Go down the path opposite. The winding path stays close to the railway line, crossing a stream and then overlooking it. Descend and approach the old La Ferrière halt.

(6) Turn left, then immediately follow the path on the right, still close to the railway line, then climb up a wide lane to reach the Rond du Grand Veneur.

(7) Cross it, continuing in the same direction, and at the bend, take the path opposite. You will come out onto the D348.6, where you will find the yellow-red markings (follow these to La Loupe station).
At the road, turn right and go under the railway line through the tunnel. At the crossroads, carefully follow the D25 to the left until you reach Rue de la Scierie, then turn left. (Access to the Perche Water Park and the campsite is on the right.) Pass close to the Billette factory.

(8) Turn left in front of the hangar and pass under the railway line again. Follow the road straight ahead. Cross the D2 carefully and continue straight ahead towards Guéhouville on the D349.2.

(9) After the bridge over the Eure (old mill), turn right onto the D349.3 to reach Guéhouville.

(10) Cross the hamlet and continue along the road to the edge of a wood. Then turn right onto the path that follows the edge of the wood. Continue in the same direction between the fields. Cut across a perpendicular path to reach the hamlet of Le Ruisseau.

(11) Continue along a small road, gradually approaching the railway line. Arrive at the entrance to La Loupe between the two bridges. Turn left. At the crossroads, cross carefully and follow a path on the right between the gardens. Join Rue Guynemer and follow it to the right. Turn right again onto Rue Charles Péguy. Continue straight ahead on Avenue de la Renaissance and arrive at the station square, the end of this route (E).
