Description of the walk

Between Les Abouranges, a hamlet located on the D987, and Sainte-Christine, park in the spaces available for users of the Étang des Planches.

(S/E) Head north-west, with the lake on your right, to walk around the lake following the Sentier des Poucettes (Hérisson trail). At the end of the lake, turn right, cross two small streams (wooden totem), and join a path.

(1) Continue around the pond, following the path on the right. You will arrive near a very large owl.

(2) Leave the path that turns right towards the road and continue straight ahead across the grassy field until you reach the road. Follow it to the right to discover the sculptures that remain on the site (snail, druid's head, woodcutter, deer). Back at the car park entrance (totem pole), take a short detour to see a salamander on the slope of the dyke, then return to the car park (S/E).

Notes

Very easy walk (and even Thumbelina-level difficulty!).

The [Fête du Bois|https://www.tourisme-combrailles.fr/land-art-etang-des-planches-sainte-christine.html
] takes place every year, during the weekend closest to 25 July. Artists carve works, often very large, using axes or chainsaws, which are then put up for sale. Some remain on site.
