Description of the walk

Park at the Pont Roch car park.

(S/E) From the car park, take the road leading up towards Brunville, running alongside the Drôme.

(1) Before passing under the railway line, turn right. Follow the path. Pass under the railway line.

(2) Just before a footbridge, turn right. At a three-way junction, veer left. Return to the tarmac road (elevation 52) and go straight on. Pass through the hamlet of Brunville, ignoring a road on the left.

(3) At the three-way junction on leaving the hamlet, follow the road to the left. Pass a wash house then turn left for about a hundred metres.

(4) Take thefirst path on the right, marked by a post in the middle prohibiting access to cars and motorbikes, to join the path running alongside the N13. Join a crossroad.

(5) Turn left, cross the bridge over the N13 and continue straight ahead for about 350 m.

(6) Take a path on the left. Join the N13, turn left and follow this road again. At the end of the path, cross the bridge over the N13 again.

(5) Continue straight on for 350 m.

(7) At a place called La Crotte, turn right. After about 150 m, leave the road and take a path on the left.

(8) You will come out onto a small road; follow it to the left. The road bends left (marker 62) and leads to a junction.

(9) Turn right, pass in front of Château de Cambre and continue straight on to the Subles housing estate.

(10) Before the high-voltage power line, turn right towards the top of Brunville. Turn right onto the track and ignore a road on the right (elevation 67).

(11) Follow the path down to the left. Cross the two branches of the Drôme and head back up to Ranchy.

(12) Turn right, go under the railway bridge and follow the D169 to the Pont Roch car park (S/E).

A nice, fairly pleasant route, though there is one slight drawback.
Point 4 is located in a private courtyard and there is no path leading from it. I nearly got bitten by the owner’s German Shepherd, who was very unhappy to find me in the courtyard at 9 o’clock in the morning.
After the wash house, the road turns left; follow it and take the first path on the right, marked by a post in the middle prohibiting access to cars and motorbikes.

A pleasant route with shaded sections and some lovely sights along the way.
The directions to the path running alongside the N13 are poorly signposted. They lead to private property. The owner kindly pointed us in the right direction, telling us we weren’t the first to follow this outdated route. An update would be very useful for future walkers and would avoid disturbing the resident and his intimidating German Shepherd.
We did not complete the circular route adjacent to the RN13.
Thanks to the author of this walk.

A lovely, picturesque route. It’s a shame the description is often vague; for example, at point 2, once you’ve left the path, it says ‘straight ahead’, but there isn’t a straight road… You have to turn right!!
Also, point 4 is poorly marked on the map. The path should be shown as a dotted line
Despite our missteps, we had a lovely afternoon in the Normandy sunshine

There is an error at point 4, both in the description and on the map.
After the wash house, the path turns left, going round a beautiful house; immediately after that, take the first path on the right with a post in the middle to prevent access by cars. The map shows a private road much further on, which is a source of confusion.
Walking alongside the four-lane road that bypasses Bayeux can be a bit noisy, but as you can’t see the road on either side, this circular loop remains idyllic; we even had a picnic there, far from the noise. A lovely walk, and the houses along the route are often stunning. Most of the paths have clearly marked names; it would have been a bonus to include these in the description.

A very pleasant route; I did have a few doubts, though – at the end of section 3 heading towards section 4, I couldn’t find the path at point 4, so I had to retrace my steps to take the previous path. I didn’t take the circular route from 5 to 6 (there were four paths to choose from).
Beautiful spots all the same.

A well-shaded countryside route with plenty of lovely paths, very close to Bayeux. A few downsides: sections 5 and 6 (the circular route) are unnecessary as they run alongside a four-lane road with a lot of traffic noise, and it’s a shame to have to walk along the road between point 12 and the finish as there is some traffic, making it a bit dangerous.
