Normandy Challenges from St-Paul-du-Vernay

(S/E) With the stadium behind you, turn right and follow the route down to Le Vey Baudouin via the Route de Castillon.

(1) At the junction, turn left onto the Route de Vernay, which climbs slightly until it meets a dirt track 550 metres further on to your right.

(2) Continue along this track, which crosses two fields. It emerges at a place called Fouin onto a small road. Carry on straight ahead for 300 metres until you reach the junction with a small path on the left.

(3) Take this path, which runs between two hedges (before the crossroads). The path runs alongside the stream. Carry on to the end of the path and take the small bridge on your right, then, keeping to the right, join the D99A, Route de St-Paul, heading towards St-Paul-du-Vernay for about 80 metres until you reach Chemin des Aublets on your left.

(4) Carry on along this path, passing a small drinking trough. Continue straight on for 1.4 km. Chemin des Anglais joins the road leading to La Vente Lucas.

(5) Turn right and carry on straight ahead until you reach the Carrefour des Gallis.

(6) At the Carrefour des Gallis, turn right onto the Route de Vey Baudouin. At the end of the road, you’ll rejoin the D99A. Turn left until you reach the next junction.

(1) Then turn left again. You are now back on the Route de Castillon; follow it up to the St-Paul-du-Vernay stadium (S/E).

The route follows tarmac roads and GR® trails.

You can take a short cut to reach (4) when you’re on the path running alongside the stream. Instead of going all the way to the bridge, a small path on your right takes you straight to the road. You’ll need to cross the small stream. Watch out for wet feet! If you take this path, you’ll find yourself directly opposite Chemin des Aublets.
