Start at the Rond-Point D'Ornano.
(S/E) Take the path between the Ornano car park and the Aure river, following the white pedestrian signs on a purple background at the start of the route. Follow the Aure to the mill, cross Rue de Nesmond, then turn right and immediately left towards the Bayeux Museum. Continue straight ahead along Allée des Augustines, which runs between a wing of the hospital and the museum, and pass under a porch to come out at Place de Québec.
(1) Cross the first bridge, turn right immediately onto Impasse de l'Islet and at the end turn right onto Rue Saint-Jean, then immediately walk alongside the tourist office on your right onto Impasse de la Madeleine. Continue along the Aure (water wheel).
(2) At the next bridge, turn left and then immediately right onto Allée Pierre Villion and continue to Avenue Georges Clemenceau. Cross at the pedestrian crossing and continue straight ahead along the path beside the Aure.
(3) At Venelle du Moulin Renard, turn right, cross the footbridge and continue along the path on the left. The Aure river is now on your left. At the end of the path, turn right to reach a few steps, cross Rue du Pont Trubert at the pedestrian crossing and continue straight ahead on the path (north) to reach Boulevard Eindhoven. Cross the boulevard (pedestrian lights) and turn left back onto the Aure.
(4) Just before the Bayeux sign, take the path on the right. At the end of the wooden footbridge, turn right and after 50 metres follow the path on the left, the Voie des Poiriers. Continue and cross Avenue de la Cotardière, then continue straight ahead on the cycle and footpath until you reach Rue de Vaux-sur Aure, which you take to the right for 70 metres.
(5) At the pedestrian crossing, cross and turn left onto the cycle and footpath heading west for 250 metres. At the roundabout, cross Rue de Lubbecke heading north (next to a pétanque court), then continue along the path between two hedges for 180 metres. Continue left along a path running behind a car park until you reach Rue de Beauvais, which you cross to continue towards Rue Georges Bizet.
(6) At the stop sign, cross Rue Baron Gérard and turn slightly right opposite Rue Pierre Corneille (botanical garden sign). After 130m, cross Rue Eustache de Boulogne and turn slightly left onto the small path that runs alongside the water tower. At the end of the path, turn left onto Rue Gustave Flaubert. After 100 metres, at the bend (by the fire hydrant), continue along a small path that leads to the Port en Bessin road. Keep left for 180 metres, then cross the road at the pedestrian crossing to enter the botanical garden.
(7) Take the path on the left for 200 metres, then the path that leads to a footbridge. Cross over the Chemin Vert via this footbridge to enter the Stade Henry Jeanne. Immediately turn left, go around a quarter of the stadium and head towards the tennis courts. Continue along the central path to exit the stadium via a small gate. Cross at the pedestrian crossing opposite the fire station and turn right onto the cycle and pedestrian path on the right, heading west.
(8) At the Vaucelles roundabout, continue along the cycle path, crossing Rue Saint Patrice and then Boulevard du 6 Juin towards the AXA building. Follow the boulevard, then turn right at the next traffic lights onto Chemin Saint-Julien. At the small roundabout, continue straight ahead and continue past the Bayeux exit sign along Rue de la Chapelle. At the exit, cross Rue de la Ferté and take Chemin de la Blanchisserie opposite for about 1 km to reach the D96.
(9) Cross and take Chemin du Clos Guillaume westwards, arriving at the Les Hogues housing estate and continuing 100 m south on the tarmac road. At the stop sign, turn left onto Route de Littry for 450 m (watch out for traffic) until you reach the Heudier garage.
(10) Cross the Route de Littry (caution: danger) and head towards the equestrian centre. After the equestrian centre, take the path on the left, Chemin de Pied
equestrian centre, take the path on the left, Chemin de Pied.
(11) At the end of the path, turn right, cross the railway line and then pass the Saint-Loup-Hors sign. Turn left onto Chemin de l'Église, go around the church on the left until you reach Rue Saint-Loup. Cross the road, then turn left until you reach the next pedestrian crossing and cross.
(12) At the stop sign, cross again, turn right and continue for 100 metres until you reach the D572 road (be careful of traffic). Cross the D572 to take the road opposite, the D67 Gueron. Immediately after the bend, turn left onto Chemin de la Fontaine. Follow it to the next junction, turn right onto Chemin des Heridots for 200 m and at the next bend, leave this road and turn left into the marshy area with wooden footbridges.
(13) Cross the bridge over the Aure and immediately turn left towards some steps. Climb the steps and turn left. Follow the stream, continue along the footbridges and pass under the railway line. Walk up to Boulevard Sadi-Carnot. Turn left to return to the pedestrian crossing (S/E).
Very interesting circuit but lacks signage in town.
