Departure from the car park below Rochetaillé Castle.
(S/E) Return to the castle, cross the D8 (Rue du Parc).
(1) Take the steps down to Rue de la Roche Corbière. Turn left towards Roche Corbière and follow the road for 500 metres.
(2) Turn left onto the Chemin du Tour du Parc until you reach Roche Corbière. Join a small road and follow it straight ahead until you reach the Gouffre d'Enfer dam.
(3) From there, you can climb up to the right to the viewpoint overlooking the Furan Valley. Set off again, following the lake on your left.
(4) Cross the stream towards the Pas du Riot dam. Take the path up to the top of the dam. From there, you can admire the valley below and the Pas du Riot lake opposite.
Set off again on the road on the right, following the lake. Go around the mouth of the Barbarie stream and cross the bridge of the same name. Leave the road and turn right to continue along the lake shore. Continue to the end and you will reach the Lerque de Biez.
(5) Continue straight ahead along the Sentier des Barrages in the Furan valley until you reach the Pont de Souvignet car park. Cross the D37 (Route du Pont Souvignet), turn right and cross the Furan to reach the pumping station.
(6) Turn left onto the path that runs alongside the Furan. Stay on the Route Balay without crossing the stream for about 800 metres. Leave the Route du Comte Amelot on your right and continue on the Route Balay, crossing the Furan twice until you reach the crossroads.
(7) Turn left along the Furan and cross the stream a third time towards Les Palais. The path joins Route Godemard. Turn right towards Les Palais without detouring via Le Bessat.
(8) At the wash house, continue straight ahead for 150 to 200 metres.
(9) Turn left onto Route des Sagnes. After about 500 metres, at the pumping station, turn right onto Chemin de la Croix de Givet.
(10). When you reach the cross, cross the D8 (Route du Bessat) and take the path parallel to the departmental road to join theGR®42
(11) Turn left and walk straight ahead to the hamlet of Le Plateau.
(12) Cross the hamlet and continue straight ahead, ignoring a path on your right, until you reach La Violette.
(13) Continue straight ahead through La Driguière and Charteloup. After the hamlet, continue along the path. Be careful, the descent is steep and can be slippery.
When you reach Rochetaillé, turn right to return to the car park (S/E).
