The viewpoints of Salvaris

Park in the small car park and picnic area before the hamlet of Salvaris.

(S/E) Take the path that climbs into the forest, leaving the small road on your right and a wide flat path on your left.

(1) Continue straight ahead up the slope, leaving the path that branches off to the right, then immediately continue straight ahead, leaving the path on your left. Viewpoints over the Gier valley.

(2) At the end of the bend to the right, turn right onto the path that climbs up from Roche de la Rivoire.

(3) At a place called Le Muret, take the wide path that runs along the ridge until you reach the GR®42 much further on at a place called Grand Font. There is a picnic table and bench.

(4) Turn right into the forest onto the GR®42 and join a small road that becomes a path to follow to the right until you reach Fontmora.

(5) Leave the GR®42, turn right and return to Salvaris. Views of Saint-Etienne. Leave a path on your right.

(6) Take a sharp right turn, leaving the paths that descend to Rochetaillée and Le Breuil on your left. Continue along this wide path, leaving other routes on your right and left.

(7) Cross Salvaris in front of the Auberge des Genets d'Or (where you can get something to eat) and return to the car park (S/E).
