Start from the car park at the Rieux village hall, Rue du Poteau Maitre Jean.
(S/E) As you leave the car park, turn right onto Rue de Dieppe and follow it to the crossroads. Cross Rue de Dieppe and turn left down Rue de l’Abreuvoir. Continue along Rue de l’Abreuvoir on your right until you reach the church square.
(1) Cross the junction and carry straight on along Rue de la Rieuse until you reach the outskirts of Rieux. Continue in the same direction on the D407A for 1 km.
(2) After the junction sign, turn left onto the path leading uphill towards the Forest of Eu. Ignore a path branching off to the right and, at the next Fork in the road, take the path on the right, which continues uphill. At the T-junction, turn right.
(3) Once at the top, take the Route de Soreng on your left. Continue along this forest track until you reach the Poteau du Mont Madame.
(4) Then take the first path on your left, which descends (caution: slippery) for 500 m. At the bottom of the path, turn left and continue to a Fork in the road. Then carry on to the right along the path at the edge of the woodland.
(5) As you leave the Forest of Eu, continue down the track towards Rieux. At the end of the track, join the tarmac road and follow it until you reach the first track on your right.
(6) Follow the signposted Rieuse path downhill for 300m until you reach the Route de Dieppe.
(7). Cross the road and take the Allée de la Briqueterie straight ahead until you reach the Route du Poteau Maitre Jean.
(8). Cross the road and take the signposted Rieuse path opposite for 360 metres.
(9) At the top of the path, turn left and follow the road downhill.
(10) Take the first path on your left and walk round the Mont des Rieux. At the end of the path, you’ll reach Rieux, on Rue du Bout des Saules, which you follow downhill.
(11) At the bottom of the street, at the junction, turn left onto Rue de Dieppe, then left again to reach your starting point: the village hall car park
