Start from the Tête de Sainte-Catherine car park.
(S/E) Turn right when facing the Route de Cacale, towards the Sainte-Catherine signpost 150 m away.
When you reach the signpost, carry straight on along the Route des Saulx.
After 500 m you’ll reach the Père André signpost
(1) Take the second path on the left, the Route du Père André. After 250 m, take the path on the right for 1 km; the path turns left – stay on the main path at the junctions at 450 m and 750 m.
(2) When you reach the large junction, continue straight ahead onto the path to the right of plot 359.
After 300 m, at the end of the track, turn right and carry on straight ahead for 650 m.
(3) When you reach the Merliers signpost, take the “Parallèle” road straight ahead, which descends for 300 m to the bottom of the valley; at the junction, turn left.
Follow the track for 700 m; it will take you to the outskirts of the hamlet of “Les Saulx”.
(4) At the junction, turn right onto the Route de la Bonne Entente, which takes you back into the forest; follow the main track for 2.5 km.
(5) On the left, at the end of plot 346, take the second path on the left just before plot 417, and follow route 4 (Pink). After 250 m, at the junction, carry straight on along route 4. After 300 m, turn left, continuing to follow route 4 (Pink), and 150 m further on, turn right onto route 4 for 600 m.
(6) When you reach the signpost marked “La Mare Pavée”, head straight ahead towards “Val de l’Eau”. After 30 m, cross the track and continue straight on for 650 m (you will leave Route 4). Take the track on the right (with a solitary fir tree) and continue for 500 m.
(7) Previous version: When you reach the Mont Saint-Rémy signpost, cross the D149, turn right onto the D149 and immediately left at plot 432 (after the picnic table).
Continue for 650 m and turn right onto theGR® de pays (after plot 432). After 50 m, follow theGR® de pays to the left.
Carry on straight ahead for 345 m, then at the junction turn left onto the path leading down into the Yères valley. Continue for 600 m.
(7) Alternative route: (not shown on the map) When you reach the signpost for Mont Saint-Rémy, cross the D149 and turn right onto the D149 towards Grandcourt.
This is a road. After 600 m, at the crossroads, take the path on the left and, after 130 m, rejoin the walk by taking the first path on the right.
(Back on the main route). Continue straight on for 345 m, then at the junction take the sunken path on the left which descends into the Yères valley.
Continue for 600 m.
(8) Take the first path on the right (Route 1 in reverse) towards the forest for 600 m. Cross the D149 road and take the small path opposite. After 60 m, at the junction, turn left onto the path that runs along the edge of the forest and overlooks the valley.
(9) After the orientation table, follow the path on the right which takes you back to the Tête de Sainte-Catherine car park (S/E).
