(S) From the refuge, take the GR®T64 westwards to descend from the rocky cliff where the refuge is perched.
(1) Turn right heading due north to stay on the GR®T64 and reach the small Étang Fourcat lake.
(2) Upstream from this lake, leave the path on the left leading to Soulcem and turn right, still on the GR®T64, to walk along the western shore of the small Étang Fourcat lake. Pass by the waterfall downstream from the small lake and descend via numerous small hairpin bends. The landscape becomes increasingly grassy and vegetated until you reach the Ruisseau de la Caudière footbridge, which you cross to reach the Orri de Caudière.
(3) Continue on the GR®T64 heading north and descend a steep path with small hairpin bends to the Étang d'Izourt.
(4) Turn right onto the GR®T64 and walk along the eastern shore of the Étang d'Izourt to the dam.
(5) Join the GR®10 here and continue straight ahead. Descend north after the Refuge de l'Étang d'Izourt, through the summer pastures overlooking the Ruisseau d'Artiès, until you reach Cayanes d'en bas. Shortly before this hamlet, enter the Gouliez-Auzat forest.
(6) Shortly before Cayanes d'en bas, turn left and cross the Artiès stream, then turn right to stay on the GR®10. Pass the Pradières power station, Cayanes d'en haut and Pradières d'en haut.
(7) Just after Pradières d'en haut, stay on the GR®10 and take the small road for about 300 m to Pradières d'en bas.
(8) Turn left, still on the GR®10, and climb towards Pradières d'en bas. The path makes two large bends to reorient itself northwards to the hamlet of Artiès.
(9) Turn left onto the GR®10 to climb a little further into the forest.
(10) At an intersection at an altitude of 1,170 metres, leave the GR®10 and turn right onto a forest path heading north. After 700 metres, the path makes a wide turn to head southwest and run alongside a water channel. You will reach the hamlet of Ciraras.
(11) Make a wide first turn right then left to rejoin the D8 road at the edge of the forest. Turn left and continue south to Marc's lodge (E).
