Departure from the small car park on the edge of the Pré Rateau forest road.

(3) Turn north-east onto this path and continue to the next fork.

(4) Turn right, heading south for about 100 metres.

(5) Turn left towards the south-east. This path is well marked at the beginning, but remain vigilant as it is not very visible in places. It may be useful to check your GPS! Continue until you reach a crossroads.

We went on this hike on 24 May in glorious sunshine. The scenery and the views were stunning. We even saw some marmots at the mountain hut! In any case, thank you for sharing this route!
As for the route itself, it wasn’t always that easy… without a GPS, the directions weren’t detailed enough, even when looking at the map. We got lost twice, even though we’re seasoned hikers. And we weren’t the only ones…
It’s true that the signposting isn’t great, which is why there should be a bit more detail at junctions and changes of direction. When you have to turn right before the fountain and also when you join the GR. Depending on the season, there can still be large patches of snow in the undergrowth, which means you lose track of the path (we missed the right-hand turn onto the GR in the woods because the path was barely visible and covered in snow just before reaching the well-marked one across the mountain pastures leading to the refuge).
