Description

Start: Bowness Knott Car Park, Cleator CA23 3AX

(S/E) From the car park, take left (South East) on the large forestry track in the direction of YHA Ennerdale. Continue on this large forestry track for around 4 km.

(1) Pass YHA Ennerdale and take left on the grassy path going up towards Red Pike.

(2) Once on the top of Red Pike, take left on the summit path going towards Little Dodd, continue straight to Starling Dodd, then straight to Great Borne.

(3) After passing Great Borne, go down until reaching a small river (this path is very steep). At the small river take left and continue going down following the river on your right hand side and then a dry stone wall. Continue on this path until reaching the road.

(4) At the road take left to walk back to the car park.

Note 1: There is no shadow and no water point

Note 2: Descent from Great Borne is very steep

Dog friendly: Yes no stiles, can have sheeps in fields. Dogs must be on lead when crossing fields with livestock.
