Quai des Romains in Pont Saint-Martin

Park in the small car park along the Ognon, close to the bridge. The circuit, which is very well signposted in yellow, actually starts near the sports hall. It is an easy circuit, very shaded and therefore perfect when it is hot. However, there are a few sections of road or tarmac paths.

(S/E) Continue along Quai des Romains, ignore two paths on the left and reach an intersection at Marais de l'Île.

(1) Leave the marked trail for a short distance to see this protected area, which is home to a rich variety of wildlife, including birds and small animals native to the marsh.

(2) Turn back.

(1) Then resume the circuit towards La Championnière.

(3) Once you reach the place, turn right and continue straight ahead at the 90° right-hand bend. You will come out onto Rue des Landes de Trejet. Turn right and follow the road until you reach the junction with the D65 (Rue de Pont Saint-Martin).

(4) Cross carefully and continue straight ahead towards La Landaiserie. At the entrance to the locality, take the path on the left, continue straight ahead at the Pas Rivière crossroads and join Rue de la Mone. Cross the road, take the path opposite and continue to a fork not far from the Château du Plessis.

(5) Turn left to see the château, which is closed to visitors but well worth a look.

(5) Turn left, ignore the path on the right and continue to the next fork, which marks the end of the first shaded paths and leads to the first Muscadet vineyards.

(7) Head right, then turn left at a 90° angle to join the D11 (Rue du Vignoble).

(8) Cross with caution and take the path opposite, slightly to the left. At the T-junction, continue right to reach the junction with Rue des Gobinières.

(9) Turn left, pass the Haute Gobinière buildings. Leave the access road to L'Étourmière on your left and continue for a few dozen metres until you reach a place called Les Plantes.

(10) Turn right even if it looks like you are entering a company yard. The path quickly leads to a large meadow, turns left to reach the banks of the Ognon and continues along the river. Ignore the street you left earlier on the left, go straight ahead and then turn away from the river to the left and you will come out on Rue des Étourmières.

(11) Turn right and rejoin the D11 (Rue du Vignoble).

(12) Turn right and follow the road carefully as there is no real path for hikers. Continue for about 200 m, then turn right again. Keep right at the three-way junction that appears immediately and find the path lined with signs describing the different species of trees that can be found there. You will reach the Prés Moreau site.

(13) Cross the footbridge to reach a park and the town's sports facilities. On the right are the Dames de Pierre menhirs. The trail goes to the left, runs alongside the Ognon river, then turns right to reach the centre of Pont-Saint-Martin and the town hall.

(14) Turn left, go around the church, then turn left again to reach the bridge. Cross the bridge to find the car park immediately on your right (S/E).
