From the D943, follow the Route de Beauregard (D576) and park in the car park marked ‘Parking puys de Jume, Coquille et Louchadière’. The Visorando app is recommended and/or the OSMRando map for unmarked sections.
(S/E) Return to the road and follow it to the right. At the junction with a path, turn right. Follow the inverted yellow markings (the Yellow Crosses are visible) until otherwise indicated. Shortly afterwards, ignore a private road with a barrier on the left.
(1) At a slight bend to the right in the track, leave it and take a grassy path on the left. When you reach the edge of the forest, turn left, ignoring the shortcut straight ahead. Shortly afterwards, turn onto a grassy path on the right and immediately ignore the path leading off to the left. Follow the VTT19 markings in addition to the inverted yellow markings.
(2) At the T-junction with a path, leave the MTB markings and turn left. Further on, ignore a wide old forest track on the right, and do the same 300 m later for the other end of this track. Further on, pass alongside the cantonal tree plantation (information board). Ignore the path on the right at the corner of the plantation and turn right immediately afterwards. At the fork, both paths are viable (the site of the old quarry on the right is no longer visible) and lead to the D943 road. Leave the inverted yellow markings.
(3) Cross with care and head down the VTT14-marked trail opposite, then immediately leave this route as it veers left. Instead, head diagonally right and follow the path. The paths in this area are shown on OSMRando but not on IGN. At the T-junction with a path, follow it to the right. Ignore a path on the left and, shortly afterwards, veer onto a track leading off to the left (blue arrow on a tree), then turn right immediately afterwards. You will then pass a few parking spaces along the road on your right.
(4) At the crossroads, follow the path slightly to the left, ignoring the path that veers more sharply to the left. Further on, ignore a track to the left. You will come to a junction with a forest track.
(5) Follow it to the left. Shortly afterwards, the track becomes a lovely forest path. About 200 metres further on, on the left, you can see the site of an old quarry (please respect the site and the fragile ‘pioneer’ vegetation that is helping with the renaturation). Further on, ignore a marked mountain bike trail on the right and you will reach a crossroads with a fork in the path ahead and a path leading off to the right.
(6) Follow this path to the right to explore, on a round trip, the former Puy de l'Espinasse Quarry. Please respect the site and the fragile “pioneer vegetation” supporting the renaturation process.
(6) Back at the crossroads, follow the path straight ahead and to the left (marked GR® on maps but no longer signposted on site).
(7) About 150 metres further on, you’ll notice some wooden sculptures by a path branching off to the left. Follow this path to visit the Puy de Tressous sculpture site. You’ll need to climb to the top of the hill to discover the many sculptures scattered throughout the forest.
(8) A visit to this superb site can take up to an hour. Thank you to the artists. Please respect this beautiful spot. Retrace your steps.
(7) Continue along the path to the left.
(9) At the crossroads, turn left and follow the red and white GR® markings (now clearly visible); follow these markings until otherwise indicated.
(10) Ignore a path on the left further on. At the next junction, keep the GR® on your left. About 500 metres further on, you will notice some familiar-looking sculptures on the right-hand side of the path: these are the guardians of the original site of the Puy de Tressous sculptures. You will eventually reach the D943.
(11) Cross carefully and follow the path opposite. It runs along the back of some properties and then reaches a T-junction. Turn right and, just after, pass a memorial stone with a curious epitaph. At the four-way crossroads, go straight on. You will reach a small road.
(12) Follow it to the right. At the junction with a hiking signpost, continue left towards Le Bouchet.
(13) At the junction with the Le Bouchet signpost, continue straight on towards Saint-Ours. Ignore two paths on the right before reaching a four-way junction with a hiking signpost.
(14) Turn left towards Beauregard. Walk for about 150 metres, then leave the GR® route and turn onto a path on the left, following the yellow PR® signpost marked “Gare au loup” (Beware of the wolf), which you should follow until you reach your destination. At the crossroads, keep to the right. Further on, you will come to a track suitable for vehicles.
(15) Follow it to the right. At the fork in the road marked Bruge Grelière, turn left. This track, which is tarmac in places, leads to the D576. Turn left to quickly reach the car park (S/E).
