As this walk does not return to the starting point, we advise you to take a bus to Cuber (bus no. 231 from Sóller). Get off at the Cuber (Font des Noguer) stop.
(S) Head west along theGR®221and follow the road on your right. Ignore all the turnings on the left and walk down to the lakeside.
(1) Turn left onto theGR®221and take the Ruta de Pedra en Sec, which runs along a sort of embankment with water on either side. Then walk along the left-hand side of the lake.
(2) At the far end of the lake, continue on theGR®221heading south-west. You’ll soon come to a path; take it to the right, continuing south-west along theGR®. Further on, pass the Binimorat chalet on your left, then turn right to stay on theGR®221. This will take you to the Col de l’Ofre.
(3) Carry on south-west for a further fifty metres or so along theGR®221.
(4) At the junction, carry on straight ahead (due south) and let theGR® branch off to the right. At the Fork in the road that appears after about 50 metres, turn left. Go round the Puig de l’Ofre on the right. This will take you to the Col d’En Poma.
(5) Leave the main path and head north up a track marked by numerous cairns placed on large boulders. The climb is steep and can be slippery (stay on the track). At the summit, there is a breathtaking 360° view.
(6) Descend via the same route back to the Col d’En Poma (take care not to slip).
(5) Turn right and return to the previous junction via the same path you took on the way up.
(4) Here, you have two options:
- Return to Cuber via the same route as on the way there, via the Col de l’Ofre and skirting the lake.
- As shown on the map, turn left and follow theGR®221again, towards Sóller. You’ll come out onto a wider path; follow it to the right. After a hairpin bend to the left, leave this path and continue to the right along the GR®. The path is very pleasant and descends gently through the forest.
(7) You’ll come out onto a more comfortable road called Cami Nou de l’Ofre; follow it to the right.
(8) Join theGR®221again and follow it towards Sóller.
(9) Leave the wide path and turn right onto theGR®. After a hairpin bend to the right, walk alongside the Torrent de l’Ofre through open terrain. Continue along a stony path. Descend via a series of hairpin bends until you reach a junction.
(10) Continue straight on (north) along theGR®. The descent becomes slightly steeper; watch out for rolling stones.
(11) At the next junction, turn right and stay on theGR®221(do not take the Cami Vell path to the left). Walk through greenery once more and you’ll pass a few houses. Cross the Torrent d’Es Verger and follow it westwards to the Torrent de Biniaraix. TheGR®221follows this stream to Biniarex.
(12) You’ll come to another junction with the Cami Vell path; ignore this on your left and carry on straight ahead on theGR®221.
(13) On reaching Biniaraix, turn left and cross the village via the Carre de San-Josep.
(14) Leave theGR®221to head towards Sóller via the Cami de Biniaraix and then the Carrer d’Ozones. After about 1 km, turn right onto the Carretera de Fornalutx and you’ll soon reach the finish (E).
