(S) From the campsite, head south-east, join the NA-7040, then turn right and continue to the Stop sign.
(1) Cross the NA-1110 with care and continue along the small road opposite which runs parallel to it. Pass in front of the Comendadoras Sancti Spíritus Monastery and continue until you reach the no-entry road.
(2) Follow the small, well-marked path. Pass under the NA-601 then continue walking through fields and heaths, following the banks of the Arga at varying distances. Pass a water treatment plant before reaching a 90° bend.
(3) Leave the Arga valley and climb north-west up the first significant hill of the stage. Walk alongside the A12 motorway on your right before reaching a roundabout at the top of this long hill.
(4) Turn left onto the path that goes round the roundabout, enter Mañeru and walk down Calle Mikelaldea to number 19.
(5) Turn right, pass a wash house and then two hostels to reach Plaza de Los Fueros. Cross the square, head left past the Town Hall, then right to leave the village heading west, following the fields of cereal crops on your left. Pass the cemetery and continue to the signpost for “Urberoéta”.
(6) Turn right, following the signs for Estella/Lizarra through the vineyards and olive groves. Ignore the paths branching off to the left until you reach the corner of a vineyard marked by a dry stone wall.
(7) Continue straight on (north-west) along a narrower path to reach Cirauqui at a fork. Turn left and walk past a garage door. First turn right then left to reach Calle Bidegorria.
(8) Turn right, then immediately left to head up a narrow, sloping lane. When you reach the pedestrian crossing, turn right then left into the one-way street (Calle Carros), following the clearly visible markings on the building facades. Continue until you reach an old medieval gate.
(9) Go through the gate and continue along the small, uphill street. At the top of this street, turn left to reach Plaza Ayuntamiento. Go under the archway and, still following the markings, head down a cobbled alleyway in the middle. Continue until you reach a safety barrier.
(10) Turn slightly to the right, then leave the village by walking down a cobbled path that forms a section of an ancient Roman road. Continue until you reach the Pont y Calzada Romana de Cirauqui, which also dates from Roman times.
(11) Continue on and turn left twice before the NA-1110, then take the footbridge specially designed to cross the A12. Continue to the crossroads.
(12) Turn left to start a country route. Continue until you reach a rest area called "Hippie Rastplatz Camino", a spot for those nostalgic for the 1960s.
(13) Continue straight on until you reach a three-way junction.
(14) Turn left and continue until you pass under a power line at a crossroads.
(15) Head right down a steep descent, running alongside and then veering away to the left of the power line. Cross a stream and continue westwards to the second junction. Keep left until you reach the tunnel.
(16) Go under the A12 then continue right onto the NA-1110 for about 500 m, until you reach the roundabout.
(17) Turn right towards the Lerate campsite. Pass under the A12 again, walking along the path to the left of the NA-7171, which keeps you safe. Pass under the Alloz Canal aqueduct and continue to the abandoned house.
(18) Turn left (south-west) and cross the River Salado via a medieval bridge. Pass under the A12 motorway for the third time via a tunnel, then under the NA-7171. Exit the tunnel and continue along an uphill gravel path, which leads to the NA-7174, a disused old road.
(19) Continue left along a stony path to join the NA-8408 in the village of Lorca.
(20) Keep heading in the same direction and cross the village, passing the Church of San Salvador followed by the Lorca Hostel, where you can stop for a bite to eat. Continue to the Stop sign.
(21) Continue left onto the NA-1110 and leave Lorca via a narrow path running alongside the fields of grain, parallel to the road. Pass on the left-hand side of a roundabout before reaching the highest point of the stage at an electricity pylon.
(22) Turn left then right and continue along a small, gently sloping path through the farmland. Follow the markings along this path until you reach a fork. You will see a square tunnel on the right and a round tunnel on the left, both passing under the A12.
(23) Turn left and go under the A12 through the round tunnel to reach, 600 m further on, the first houses of Villatuerta and a Stop sign.
(24) Turn left into Calle Erregueta and continue straight on until you reach the football stadium.
(25) Turn right, then left into Calle San Ginés. Stay on this street and pass a pharmacy before arriving at a small Romanesque bridge with two arches that crosses the River Iranzu.
(26) Cross the bridge then turn left. Be careful, the signposting on this street is misleading. Stay on Rúa Nueva, pass the Town Hall and head up towards the Church of Nuestra Señora de la Asunción. You can stock up on supplies at a mini-market.
(27) Continue straight on, passing to the right of a warehouse on Calle Estella until you reach the junction with the NA-6075.
(28) Cross this road carefully and leave the village by following a path across the fields which leads to the San Miguel rest area: drinking water fountain.
(29) Pass under the NA-132 through a small tunnel, then continue down through a wood of deciduous trees to cross the River Ega.
(30) On the other side of the river, continue along a stony path overlooking the river, passing to the right of a small pond before arriving at the car park of an agricultural cooperative.
(31) Turn left towards Camping Lizarra. Walk alongside the agricultural cooperative and continue for a further 500 m or so to reach the entrance to the campsite (S/E).
