Whether arriving from Bandol or Sainte-Anne d'Evenos, at the Lattre-de-Tassigny roundabout, take the "Le Brulat - Castellet - Centre de Secours" direction, which heads north towards Marseille via Le Brulat.
On leaving the town, you will see an area planted with umbrella pines on your right, where there are several car parks. Park here (at the start of Rue Victor Rougier).
(S/E) Return in the opposite direction on the D26 road for about 100 metres.
(1) Turn right onto Chemin du Castellet au Beausset (CR n°320), which starts off fairly straight and gently sloping between vineyards on the left and orchards, olive groves and copses on the right, with a beautiful view of the village of Le Beausset. The road then climbs more steeply with a series of bends, before becoming fairly straight again. Pass in front of the "Maison des Vins de Bandol" and continue straight ahead (no entry except for residents) on Chemin de la Ferrage, to join a road (Montée du Château). Turn right until you reach a three-way junction about 80 m further on.
(2) Here you have two options:
- turn right onto Chemin du Cros du Loup to reach the village from the east,
- or turn left onto Rue Decugis, which then allows you to turn right onto Rue Montée Saint-Eloi to bypass the village from the east as well. This is the option we chose, as we found it more scenic.
Then you are free to cross and visit the old village, strolling through its picturesque streets.
(3) Be sure to visit the Place de la Mairie, where a gate opens onto the rampart walk, offering superb views of the Beausset plain and the village of Brulat.
(4) You will find yourself at the start of Chemin de Saint-François, which descends to the right, overlooked on the right by a beautiful stone wall topped with bricks, and joins the road (Montée du Château) which bypasses Le Castellet on the left towards Le Brulat. Cross this road and take Chemin des Costes (CC no. 330) opposite, which runs below the road for about 700 m before joining it.
(5) Just before the junction with the road, turn left onto the path (marked as Chemin de Larousse) which cuts across towards Le Brulat, first crossing the Grand Vallat stream, then continuing along this path until it joins the road in the village. Then turn right and go down the road to the road bridge over the Grand Vallat. Before the bridge, turn left onto the small road (Chemin des Faremberts) which goes up the stream on its right bank. Ignore the roads and tracks on the left and stay on the road along the stream.
The road crosses a small tributary, makes a hairpin bend to the right and climbs with the stream and scrubby forests on the right and a pine forest on terraces on the left. You are now in what is locally known as the "Vallée du Silence" (Valley of Silence).
After passing vegetable gardens, you will come to a junction with Allée des Primevères on the left. Turn right onto Chemin du Gourganon, which begins by crossing the stream and climbs towards the village of Le Beausset.
(6) As soon as you reach the first houses of the village, you will see Promenades des Aires on your right. Continue straight ahead on Rue Pierre Curie, then turn left onto Rue du Grand Four, then Rue Victor Hugo. Pass in front of the Church of Notre-Dame de l'Assomption, then turn right onto Rue Gambetta to reach the town hall square. Turn right onto Rue Gabriel Péri, then left onto Rue Pasteur and right onto Rue des Aires, which leads to Promenade des Aires; turn left onto it.
(7) A pedestrian access starting under a porch allows you to continue along a balcony, from where you can enjoy a beautiful view of the Beausset plain
(8) You will arrive at the end of the pedestrian area of Promenade des Aires.
Continue along the street until you reach Rue Victor Rougier and, a little further on the right, you will come to the car park where you started (S/E).
