Description of the walk

Anse Magaud / Anse de Méjean car park.

(S/E) Head to the roundabout and go up Avenue de la Résistance. Continue straight on along the Corniche du Général de Gaulle.

(1) At the traffic lights, turn left onto Chemin de la Batterie Basse and stay on this road, ignoring the adjacent streets.

(2) Go down the steps on the right which lead to the coastal path, then follow this path to the left. You’ll reach a small car park on the edge of the Chemin de la Batterie Basse. Continue straight ahead to the Anse Méjean car park and walk to the tip of the headland to the Notre-Dame de Cap Falcon Chapel.

(3) Enjoy the view. Return to the car park and go down the steps leading to Anse de Méjean. Walk the entire length of the beach.

(4) At the end of Anse de Méjean, head back up via the Chemin de la Mer to the roundabout you passed on the way out (access to Anse Magaud is on the right at the start of the climb). Turn right to return to the car park where you started (S/E).

Notes

The route starts along a main road but there’s a wide pavement with one side in the shade and the other in the sun.
Return via the coastal path, then all the way along Anse de Méjean (beach).
At the roundabout where Avenue de la Résistance meets Boulevard du Docteur Bourgarel, there’s the Magaud bakery and, next door, a takeaway pizza place (to keep everyone motivated on arrival, for example...).

Worth a visit

After Anse de Méjean, there’s the option to head to Anse Magaud.

More people than you might expect at this time of year, but I guess a lot of people had been missing the good weather, so...
A really lovely walk once we left the road, but it meant we could pick up a picnic at the bakery :-)

Just note that the water was a bit choppy at the time, so we had to take off our shoes after passing the few houses at Anse Méjean, because we didn't want to take any chances with the waves. The person in front of us paid the price ;-)
One rock requires a bit of climbing, nothing too difficult, but with someone recovering from ankle surgery, we almost regretted not wearing swimsuits to go through the water.

The path is very well signposted and easy to find. It’s not very busy at this time of year on weekdays, but it’s best to avoid it during the summer months. The scenery on the second half of the circular path is magnificent, making you forget the first part, which runs alongside the road.
