Access: from Geneva, take the A40 motorway, exit 16 (Bonnevile), then the D1203. From Bonneville, continue towards Le Grand Bornand (D12 then D4). From Le Grand Bornand, climb up to Le Chinaillon, cross the village and continue to the Col de la Colombière, where you can park near the restaurant. You can also reach the pass via Le Reposoir (from Cluses).
(S) From the car park, turn your back on Bargy, climb over the barrier (next to the wooden cross) and climb up the mountain pasture towards Pointe de la Botte (east). The path is not very well marked and gradually becomes very steep. You will climb quickly and, after a few hairpin bends, you will reach the summit to the east of Pointe de la Botte (1,807 m), with beautiful views of Bargy, the Reposoir valley and the Bouchet valley.
(1) Cut across the slope towards a secondary peak (on the Pointe Percée side) to rejoin the path and reach a small pass.
(2) Follow the path that branches off to the right (the lower one) and continue along the hillside. The faint path climbs slightly towards another small pass, through scrubby terrain, before turning right (west) and climbing more steeply over stony ground. A final steep section brings you to the grassy ridge, which you follow to the left to reach the summit of Tête d'Auferrand (1,984m); a very pretty panoramic viewpoint with the Aravis mountain range in the foreground.
(3) Continue eastwards along the grassy ridge to a flat area; begin the ascent of Pointe de Deux Heures (4) by immediately taking the rollercoaster path that leads to the summit at 2018m. There is a lovely view of Pointe Percée and the ridge leading to Pointe de Grande Combe, Pointe d'Almet and Cime de Février.
(5) For the descent, continue along the ridge; this is followed by a short, easy climb down, but be careful as it is quite steep. Continue a short distance along the grassy ridge before taking the slope on the left "off-piste" (6) (be careful, it is steep and slippery with some rocks that are not always visible) descending more or less straight down into the Combe des Fours until you reach the path again.
(7) Follow the path to the right (you can also retrace your steps to take the path that passes under the Pointe de Deux Heures). Shortly after passing a small chalet, you will come to a fork at the bottom of the Combe des Fours (1774m).
(8) Take the path on the left. The route is then quite difficult and continues with a few hairpin bends, passing under rocky outcrops until you reach a track that climbs slightly before levelling out. You will pass the Aufferand inn and follow the track that quickly takes you back to the Col de la Colombière.
