A lovely circular hike starting from the Col de la Colombière, mainly on grassy terrain (the name of this peak refers to the time it takes to climb it). This hike offers superb views of the Bornes and Aravis mountain ranges.
There may be flocks of sheep and patous (Swiss mountain dogs) present.

Starting from the Col de la Colombière, I suggest a virtually circular route up to the Pointe du Midi: this is a lovely walk that takes you past the Grotte de Montarquis and the Lac de Peyre in particular.Caution: as the terrain is quite rocky, you should exercise caution in the vicinity of the Pointe du Midi, particularly in the Cu Déri couloir, just before the point (6), which is quite exposed to rockfalls. The use of a GPS is recommended (see below).
Please note: following a rockfall in mid-October 2025, the path leading to the summit of the Pointe du Midi has been partially washed away (see below)

I’d like to suggest a lovely, almost circular route, the aim of which is to reach the Pointe d’Almet from the Col de la Colombière, mainly along ridges via ‘unofficial’ paths. All along the way, there are some very pretty views to enjoy.
Please note: there are two tricky, steep sections which require caution (see the description below).
This hike is not recommended for those who are not sure-footed or who suffer from vertigo.

A lovely walk through great scenery which changes at different points of the walks. Good views and very quiet.
Note this is not marked with the usual yellow signposts so you will need to refer to your IGN map. There are some hand-painted signs and arrows to help guide you. This walk also passes through the upland pasture with grazing sheep and the livestock is protected by dogs. Make sure you have read the information and know-how to pass flocks in a safe manner.
