Pointe de Chesery: Out and Return

This is a short tour which is useful to fill a couple of hours; perhaps when you want to stretch your legs on a short and steep ascent, or if you have spent most of the day hurtling downhill on a mountain bike and you want to do something different.
The Pointe de Cheserey can be easily ascended and descended using the same path as an out and return.

Description of the walk

Start: Park at Pre la Joux and take the Pierre Longue chair lift to Plaine Dranse and then the Rochassons chair lift to Crete des Rochassons. If you are staying in Chatel you should have a Multi Pass which allows you to ride on the chair lifts for free.

Alternatively, you can drive to Plaine Dranse, park and take the chairlift; or you can extend the walk by walking up from here.

(S/E) From the top chairlift (Telesiege des Rochassons) take the track heading South-East to pass beside a building and onto a narrower path which soon splits.

(1) The split is signposted, ignore the path on the right to the Col de Chesery and take the left hand path. This starts to rise, gently at first and then more steeply and at a consistent angle up to a couple of cairns. Beyond these the path eases off a little for the final 50m to the summit of Pointe de Cheserey.

(2) Enjoy the view (You can see Mont Blanc to the South). From here, just walk back the same way to the start. (S/E)
