Ploërdut walks

Departure from the Church of Saint-Yon in the village of Locuon in the commune of Ploërdut, in search of the springs of the Aër, a stream that takes its source from several small brooks that feed it and which will be discovered throughout this country walk. The trail is signposted and suggested by the Pays du Roy Morvan Tourist Office. Very often wet and muddy in winter, you'll need to be well equipped to complete this trail, or to enjoy it from mid-April to September when the weather is milder. Don't miss the Chapelle de Notre Dame de la Fosse at the end of the tour.

This cycle tour invites you to pedal through the heart of a typical Breton landscape. As you ride along, you will pass through villages and hamlets, come across chapels, churches and fountains, and enjoy superb views of the surrounding countryside, with a magnificent shaded road running alongside the Scorff valley. A detour to the medieval hamlet is a must! Your visit to Kernascléden will be an opportunity to discover the famous church with its remarkable architecture and the Maison de la Chauve-Souris (Bat House), a real immersion into the world of these mysterious mammals. Designed to combine leisure and discovery, this loop is suitable for electric bikes (e-bikes) or hybrid bikes. An ideal route for lovers of cycling, natural heritage, architecture and history. This hike was completed and written during the summer of 2015, an exceptional period when the lake was drained for dam maintenance.We invite hikers to do this walk in spring, when the colours and scents are at their best, with the clear waters of the lake as a backdrop. Since 2024, major work has been underway between points 3 and 4 with a view to building a free Himalayan footbridge for crossing the Blavet, which cuts the complete tour of the lake in two. This will still be possible for the most experienced walkers. (See note in "Practical information".

A loop on the north side of the Toulfoën forest, leading to a chapel, the road "Chemin du Duc", castle of Carnoët and the Bishop's Chair.

This walk takes you along the Blavet estuary, between woodlands and salted meadows. Beautiful landscapes, fauna, flora, and a fascinating boat cemetery.

This route takes in the Loch Reserve. A former arm of the sea that has been reclaimed and transformed into marshland.It's home to many species of flora and fauna. You'll cross reedy wetlands and enjoy birdwatching.

Two coastal rivers, the Aven and the Belon, have the same estuary facing Port Manec'h. This circuit largely follows the edge of the Belon and one of its coves, Penmor. During the walk, you will discover two beautiful fountains and the Saint-Léger Chapel.

Leaving the small port of Merrien, you follow the seafront. After returning via small grassy paths, you'll make your way up the entire ria.

After a peaceful walk along small country roads to discover the Allée Couverte Arc Boutée de Kerantiec, this circuit joins the karstic cave at the Rosbraz marina. The return via the GR®34 overlooks the left bank of the Aven and then the right bank of the Belon, offering views of the opposite bank of each river.

In the footsteps of "Gauguin at Nizon" (Christ Vert or "Green Christ") and Trémalo chapel (Christ Jaune or "Yellow Christ")The route follows the forest "Bois d'Amour" and Aven River banks.Return along country paths.

The Ria d'Étel is always changing. At low tide, vast expanses of mudflats are interspersed with tiny or larger areas covered with all kinds of plants and birds. At high tide, it is the sea with its tiny or large islets. And inland, there is low-lying, sometimes marshy land with pine forests stretching to the coast, on sandy, sometimes rocky soil. And there is no shortage of colour. I have been there several times and the photos of the same place are never the same.

A short, easy loop between countryside and seaside.

From the small port of Brigneau, nestled in a magnificent estuary, follow theGR®34trail to Île Percée, a small island where blockhouses were used to defend the coast and, above all, the submarine base at Lorient. The return journey along country lanes and through woods takes you back to the bottom of the ria, where old sardine boats lie dismantled and silted up, living out their final days.

Entre forêts et bord de mer, voici un parcours parfois technique qui donne un bon aperçu de la région du Belon. Assez bien balisé en Jaune ou Rouge et Blanc.

On the way there and back, this circuit follows the coastal path around the Anse de Rospico. Inland, you can admire small villages with their old bread ovens. Kerascoët, the village of thatched cottages, will delight photographers. Don't forget the fountains that dot the route and the Chapel of Trémorvézen.
