Guémené - Lignol - Kernascléden - St-Caradec - Le Croisty -Ploërdut circuit

Following tourist routes, this loop offers superb panoramic views of the countryside of the Pays du Roi Morvan. It invites you on a journey through a rich historical heritage, including a visit to the Bains de la Reine, the remains of the Château des Rohan and the Maison Limbour in Guémené-sur-Scorff. In Kernascléden, step inside the famous Notre-Dame church with its flamboyant Gothic architecture to discover one of the two danse macabre scenes in Brittany. Cross the street to visit the Maison de la Chauve-Souris (Bat House), where you can immerse yourself in the world of this mysterious mammal.
Designed to combine leisure and discovery, this loop proposed by Roi Morvan Communauté is suitable for electric bikes (e-bikes) or hybrid bikes (mountain bikes).
This loop has some significant elevation changes over long distances, making it more suitable for experienced cyclists.

Description of the route

The start and finish of this route is in the commune of Guémené-sur-Scorff in the car park of the town hall, Place du Château.

(S/E) With your back to the town hall, take the northern access road and turn left at the crossroads towards Rue des Frères Trebuil. Go straight ahead at three crossroads, then keep left towards Rue Raymond Voisin (D131). Ignore the fork at No. 3 Pont Tichot.

(1) Continue on the D131 until you see a bicycle sign (VD2) pointing towards Lignol.

(2) Turn left at the fork, follow the cycle signs and continue straight ahead until you reach the junction with the D128, opposite Lignol cemetery.

(3) Turn left onto Rue de la Villeneuve (D128) to descend into the village of Lignol via Place de l'Église.

(4) Continue along the road, then at the roundabout, take the second exit onto the D128. Keep right immediately towards Rue du Courtil, then cross the D782.

(5) Continue straight ahead on Rue Saint-Yves and follow the cycle signs, VD2. Turn right at the fork at Le Hinguer and continue to Ker Bellec.

(6) Turn left, following the cycle signs, to reach Quelfenc.

(7) When you leave the locality, turn right at the intersection, then continue on the VD2 to Bot er Glazec.

(8) Turn right at the intersection and continue on the VD2 until you reach the junction with the D178.

(9) Turn right onto the D178 towards the village of Kernascléden. You will arrive opposite the Church of Notre-Dame.

(10) At the intersection, turn right onto the D782 and quickly leave it by turning left onto Rue de la Gare (D178) and continue straight towards Saint-Caradec-Trégomel, staying on the D178.

(11) At the fork, keep right towards Rue du Moulin. Turn right at the intersection onto Rue de l'église (D131) to quickly reach the building.

(12) Make a U-turn, ignore Rue du Moulin and continue straight ahead on the D131 until you reach the four-way intersection. Turn right onto Rue du Mané (D110) towards Le Croisty. Stay on the same road until you reach the church and Rue des Écoles.

(13) Turn right, keep right at the fork, turn right and follow Rue Paul Ihuel. Then turn left towards Rue de Bellevue. Continue until you reach the intersection with Pont de Guernazic.

(14) Turn left and follow the road to the second fork.

(15) Keep left at the fork and continue on the road to Ploërdut and its church.

(16) Turn right towards Place de la République and then right twice more towards Rue de la Belle Fontaine (D128) until you reach the crossroads.

(17) Go straight ahead to leave the D128, then continue straight ahead on the road towards Guémené-sur-Scorff. Continue to the Y-junction and a reservoir.

(18) Keep left at the fork and continue straight ahead towards Keronnés.

(19) Turn left to rejoin the D131 and the initial fork.

(1) At the intersection, turn left onto the D131. At the end, turn right onto Rue Louis Le Rail. Then keep right on Rue Joseph Le Calvé. Turn left onto Rue du Château to reach Place du Château (S/E).

Notes

Please be careful on the road. You will be riding on quiet local roads and a few busier departmental roads. The Highway Code applies on shared paths.

Helmets are compulsory for children under 12 and strongly recommended for other users. Wearing a high-visibility vest is also recommended.

The Pays du Roi Morvan has some steep hills, so think about your calves and save your battery so you can get back without too much effort!

  • Visit Guémené-sur-Scorff, a medieval town with the ruins of the Rohan castle, the Queen's Baths and half-timbered houses.
  • Step inside the churches to discover the sand pits, paintings and architecture from different periods: Lignol (4), Kernascléden (10), St-Caradec-Trégomel (12), Le Croisty (13) and Ploërdut (16).
  • Remember to ask for the keys at the town halls to gain access.
