Description of the walk

Park in the car park on the north side of Port Camargue, south of the centre of Le Grau du Roi, near the Le Flamant building on Avenue Jean Lasserre.
There are no markings for this hike, which presents very little risk of getting lost.

(S/E) Head north and take one of the beach access points. Then walk along the seafront, heading north-east, then north and finally north-west to reach the southern sea channel dyke, which provides access to the port.

(1) Follow the dyke to the left to reach the marker, then retrace your steps.

(1) Continue straight ahead on Quai Colbert until you reach the swing bridge.

(2) Continue straight ahead on the Promenade Maréchal de Lattre de Tassigny until you reach the ship repair yard (sometimes with some beautiful sailing boats), then retrace your steps to the swing bridge.

(2) Cross the bridge to reach the other side of the maritime channel (the canalised Vidourle) then turn right onto Quai du Général Charles de Gaulle. Follow the bend to the left and walk about a hundred metres along the port's marina (many egrets colonise the pontoons).

(3) Retrace your steps and turn right onto Rue du Vidourle. Follow it straight ahead and you will arrive at the port at the tourist office (a pretty house). Turn slightly left towards the lighthouse and the start of the northern breakwater of the maritime channel.

(4) Walk to the end of the breakwater and retrace your steps.

(4) Head left, due north, into the car park to reach the beach. Follow the seafront to Boucanet, where the beach ends, not because of the mouth of the Vidourle, but mainly because of private property that prevents passage (even though the route is marked).

(5) Retrace your steps back to the port.

(4) When you reach the northern breakwater, turn left and walk up Quai du Général Charles de Gaulle to the swing bridge and cross back over to the southern side of the sea channel.

(2) Continue straight on Rue des Alliés, then continue in the same direction on Rue de la Victoire for about 40 metres. Turn right onto Rue Alsace Lorraine, then take the first left onto Rue de la Poissonnière. Take the first right onto Rue Victor Garnier, then the second left onto Rue Michel Redares and finally the first right to return to the seafront (Boulevard du Maréchal Juin).

(6) Head south along the beach to return to the car park at Port Camargue (S/E).

Very pretty harbour, consisting of a sea channel where fishing boats are moored to the quays. A very beautiful house, the Maison du Dauphin (1900).
Traditional architecture houses in the streets of the village.
Lots of birds in the nautical stop.
