Departure from the car park of the Cave Coopérative d'Ansignan.
(S/E) From the car park, return to the D619 and turn left, following the red and yellow markings ofthe GRP®® du Fenouillèdes. Pass the Tree of Liberty and then take the path that descends to the right where you will see the aqueduct sign.
(1) Cross the Agly via this aqueduct. On the other side, turn right onto the GRP®®. You will come to an intersection.
(2) Leave theGRP®® and turn left onto the DFCI F53 track. At the next crossroads (elevation 241), continue straight ahead (north-east). Stay on the track and ignore the side paths. Climb up and follow a series of hairpin bends. Note the view of Pic Vergès on your right. After passing an unnamed pass, begin the descent, which will allow you to see the village of Saint-Arnac.
(3) Follow the yellow PR® markings for about 100 metres, then leave the track and take the path on the left which descends through the woods and leads to the Saint-Arnac picnic area.
(4) Climb up to the village via the path on the left. Just after the wash house, turn right and continue along the road until you reach the village exit sign at the cemetery.
(5) Turn right onto the street, which continues as a path. At a small plateau and crossroads, turn left to reach the D77 road.
(6) Follow the tarmac road to the right (look for the red and yellowGRP®® markings, which you will follow continuously until the intersection at the foot of Pic Vergès). After about 150 m, leave the road on the right and follow a wide path.
(7) At the three-way junction, take the middle path. Ignore a path branching off to the right further on and continue to the next junction.
(8) Go straight ahead and stay on the main path until you reach the fork just after a ruin on your left (Pic Vergès sign).
(9) Keep to the right. Be very careful on this ascent and descent, despite the excellent facilities. The slopes are very steep, but there is a handrail to hold on to. Continue to the summit.
(10) Once at the summit, enjoy the splendid 360° view before returning to the previous intersection.
(9) Take theGRP®® on the right. Pass the Rentadou access point on your right and you will come to a star-shaped crossroads.
(11) Take the second path on the left, which curves to the right further on, approaches the Agly river and ends at a small tarmac road.
(12) Keep to the right, then immediately to the left, and continue straight ahead.
(2) Continue straight ahead and retrace your steps to complete the hike and return to the Cave Coopérative (S/E).
