Roc de Lansac

Nestled amongst the granite and limestone hills of the Fenouillèdes, Lansac is a peaceful little wine-growing village. The walk, starting from the winery, circles Roc de Lansac before returning to the village. A landscape of limestone and granite heath.

Description of the walk

Head to the village of Lansac and park in the car park of the cooperative winery, on Avenue des Platanes, near the church.

(S/E) On leaving the car park, head right (west) along Avenue des Platanes, keeping the church on your right. At the end of the avenue, turn left twice, then take Rue des Vignes towards the cemetery.

(1) At the cemetery, turn sharply right onto a track. Follow the track as it winds its way up to a crossroads at an unnamed pass (elevation 364).

(2) Then take the first left, a track heading towards the Tour de Lansac.

(3) At the next junction, turn left at a hairpin bend. Further on, turn right at a hairpin bend and arrive at the foot of the Tour de Lansac (open to visitors).

(4) Continue south along the track until you reach a Fork in the road.

(5) Take the path on the right. Climb up to reach the summit of the Roc de Lansac (500).

(6) Head back down towards the east, following a few bends.

(7) You’ll come out onto a track; follow it to the left.

(8) At a hairpin bend to the left, leave the track and take a path to the right (east). Descend steadily. At the T-junction, turn left and you’ll soon reach a road junction.

(9) Turn right here, then immediately turn left twice to follow a west-north-west-facing path. You’ll rejoin the tarmac further on. At the successive junctions, keep left. This will take you to the car park of the cooperative winery (S/E).

A beautiful walk with lovely views of Lake Caramany. The last part of the climb up Roc de Lansac sometimes requires you to use your hands to keep your balance, but it is not difficult.
At point 9, you can take the path opposite the track you arrived on rather than following the trail that is circular to the right.

Hello, the route is very interesting but really for beginners, especially after leaving the tower, which can no longer be accessed because too much vegetation has blocked the path. However, in the direction of the cross, it is better to be equipped with crampons for the mountains and take care to secure yourself properly. Do not attempt this route when it is too windy as you can quickly lose your balance. some of the markings have been erased.

A lovely walk lasting around 2 hours. The route is very well signposted and offers a beautiful view of Caramany and its lake. As mentioned by Poucinette, there are quite a few stones, particularly on the steepest section just before the summit and on the descent from the summit, so a walking stick might come in handy.

A hike of around 7 km with an elevation gain of approximately 250 m, offering superb, almost 360° views… the Canigou massif, Lake Caramany, the Corbières and the plain…
In some places the path is very uneven, with plenty of scree, so you’ll need good walking boots and walking poles.
Take the very short detour to see a beautiful drystone shelter.
This hike is not recommended in very hot weather.
