Park in the car park near Lac d'Aubert.
(S/E) From the car park, walk to Lac d'Aubert.
Walk along the lake's edge to the right, keeping a good distance, following the wooden railing, then take the path towards Hourquette d'Aubert, Lac d'Aumar and Col de Madamète until you reach a crossroads of marked trails. (signs in the centre of the crossroads).
(1) At the signs, leave the path to Hourquette d'Aubert on your left and take the path to Lac d'Aumar and Col de Madamète on your right.
After a few metres, the trail joins Lac d'Aumar.
(2) At the lake sign, turn left onto theGR®10towards Col de Madamète.
TheGR® reaches the end of the lake, then turns left and gradually climbs up the scree to Gourg de Rabas or Gourguet de Madamète.
(3) Walk along the lake, passing the boulders and following the red and white GR® markings on the rocks.
When you reach the end, climb theGR® trail to the north-west to reach the Col de Madamète, marked by a large cairn.
(4) From the pass, do not take the marked or unmarked side paths, but climb leftwards, across the scree towards the west, on the wide eastern ridge of the peak. (See video)
Progress from cairn to cairn until you see the summit trail.
Follow this path to a small pass and then, on the right-hand side, to the summit of Pic de Madamète, topped with a pretty cairn.
(5) Begin your return journey in the opposite direction, following the same route you took to the car park (S/E).
