Park in the centre of the village of Laroque-des-Albères, Rue de la Soulane.
(S/E) Walk down Rue de la Soulane, turn right and walk up Rue de Roca Vella. At the intersection, continue along this road, signposted: No Entry except for residents, towards Sant Fructuós de Roca Vella. The road passes some ruins (on the right).
(1) Turn right, sign: Pic d'Aureille, yellow markings with the indication: PRLAR11. The road becomes a track and quickly reaches a hairpin bend.
(2) Leave the track and take the eroded path on the right, which climbs steeply (altitude 220 m).
At an altitude of 500 m, you will come across a marked trail, but continue straight ahead, on the shoulder, still heading towards Pic d'Aureille.
Reach Roc de Grèvol (cross at the summit).
(3) Continue southwards along the ridge on the yellow marked trail. The climb becomes less steep and you will reach a trail junction below Pic d'Aureille (Puig d'Orella).
(4) Continue south to a cross-country track. A sign indicates: Pic Sant-Christau and Coll de l'Ullat.
Pic d'Aureille is on the right, a little higher up on the left.
(5) Ignore this and return to the previous junction.
(4) Take an unmarked path on the right between the ferns at an altitude of 975 m, which heads east.
This path descends and then widens to join:
- afirst fork (895 m), stay on this grassy track which turns left (north),
- asecond fork (elevation 872 m), where the path joins a track descending from the left; turn right and follow this track for about 1 km.
Cross the Còrrec del Coll (pass valley), continue for about 270 m until you reach the marked PRLAR11 route.
Note: if you cannot find the start of the trail, go back down to Roc de Grevol and take the track on the right to rejoin the return trail (elevation 872).
(6) Take the path on the left that descends and rejoin the marked route that you left. Sign: Laroque-des-Albères PRLAR11. Follow the yellow markings until you reach a track at a hairpin bend (altitude 650 m).
(7) Immediately leave the track and take the path that descends northwards on a shoulder. You will reach a new crossroads at a track.
(8) Cross it and head straight ahead along the path that descends towards Puits à Neige.
(9) To see it, leave the main path (5 min round trip) and turn right (signposted).
Return to the sign and continue downhill, still heading towards Laroque-des-Albères, following the yellow marked trail, PRLAR11.
When you reach the small canal (altitude 170 m), do not head towards Laroque-des-Albères, but cross it and descend towards Ribera de la Roca, heading towards Pic d'Aureille. Cross the bridge and follow the path back up to the ruins of Sant Fructuós de Roca Vella.
(1) Turn right and take the same path you came on to return to the car park (S/E).
A very beautiful parish-specific to Brittany hike; we opted to return via the Col de l'Ouillat because the path leading up to the Pic d'Aureille is very overgrown.
