Laroque Waterfall from Laroque-des-Albères

Park in the car park at the Chapel of San Sebastia in Laroque-des-Albères.

(S/E) Take the Chemin de la Florentine, which heads down to the left of the chapel. This narrow path winds through the gardens to a metal bridge. Cross the bridge and take the path uphill to the left. At the top, take the path on the right to reach Rue du Château. Follow this street to the church (you can climb up to the tower to enjoy the view).

(1) Turn left onto Rue des Évadés to reach a path lined with a low stone wall. Continue along this path until you reach Chemin des Disputes, which you’ll follow by turning right. The path winds its way through the trees until it reaches a road.

(2) Follow the road for a few dozen metres before turning left; this will allow you to avoid walking along the main road.

(3) Turn right between two low stone walls to join a forest track which heads off to the left towards the Mas d’en Bordes. Walk past the farmhouse to reach a small path that winds through the forest, climbing gently up to a junction where several walking routes meet.

(4) Be careful here: take the path that descends to the right and do not continue straight on. As you go down this path, you’ll reach the Font de la Vallauria.

(5) Walk past the fountain and continue your descent until you reach another fork in the path.

(6) Turn left and , after a few minutes, you’ll reach the Laroque Waterfall. Take care on the path – there’s a fairly narrow section which may be dizzying for those who are afraid of heights. As this is a round trip, there’s no need to push on if you don’t feel comfortable, especially as you’ll have to go back the same way on your return.

(7) At the waterfall, turn back and return to the fork in the path.

(6) Head straight ahead andbegin the descent towards Laroque, taking the path that leads you to the Moulin de la Pava.

(8) Join the Route du Château, then turn left onto the Chemin de la Florentine to return to your car park via the same route you took on the way out (S/E).

This walk was created in September 2026; the waterfall was not flowing very strongly due to the drought, but there was still some water and the area is pleasant. The walk does not present any particular difficulties, although the descent from point (4) is quite steep.
