Departure from the hamlet of Le Plan. Car park on the left before the bridge.
(S/E) Follow the track extending from the car park, which climbs up the right bank of the Torrent de l'Arrondine. Cross a ford and reach a fork a few metres further on.
(1) Take the path on the left, which quickly leads to a meadow. Cross the meadow almost horizontally, then continue along the right bank of the torrent until you reach it.
(2) The path through the woods then turns into a trail that climbs to the left. At the edge of the woods, continue through the mountain pastures, ford the stream de l'Allonge (no footbridge at the end of August 2019) and join a track.
(3) Turn right, pass the Pététry mountain chalet and then a stream ford, and find the start of a path climbing to the left.
(4) Continue along this path, which climbs gradually towards the Col de Niard.
(5) Turn right onto a grassy path that is not very visible and follows a fence at the top. Join a small track at a chalet and continue to the Cabane du Petit Pâtre.
(6) Leave the track and go around the second hut on the left. Follow the path that climbs southwards through the mountain pastures and continues along a balcony path passing below the summit of Croisse Baulet.
(7) At the fork, descend to the left along the path that follows the ridge and reach the Col de l'Avenaz.
(8) Continue straight ahead and climb up to Petit Croisse Baulet.
(9) Turn right onto the southern shoulder and reach a plateau at Tête de Ramadieu.
(10) Leave the start (not very visible) on your left and continue downhill, following the shoulder to the next fork.
(11) Take the path on the right which crosses an alpine pasture area and then enters the undergrowth. Follow a steep descent to reach a road at the hamlet of La Crépinière.
(12) Follow the road to the right and return to the car park at the hamlet of Le Plan (S/E).
