Start from the square between the church and the town hall.
(S/E) Walk past the church, cross the Route du Col des Aravis and continue along Rue de la Confrérie opposite the fountain. At the top of this street, cross the Route des Aravis again and continue along the path opposite.
Cross the Vorey stream, a tributary of the Arrondine (150 m below), and immediately turn left uphill. When you reach the road, cross the bridge and you will immediately come to a small car park.
(1) Turn right and follow the path that climbs along the edge of the woods, on the right bank of the stream, until you reach a cross-country track.
(2) Continue straight ahead through the undergrowth, following the edge of the woods on your left. Join the mountain pasture track.
(3) Follow this to the right, pass two hairpin bends and then under an alpine chalet (selling cheese). Continue a few metres to the next left-hand bend with a grassy path starting on the right. Note the Croix de Ptiouta (Croix des Buts on the map) about 50 metres above.
(4) Continue left on the mountain track, pass the entrance to Le Megevan (campsite) and join the next path on the left.
(5) Follow this path and, a few metres before the chalet, take the faint path on the right. This quickly becomes visible and begins a fairly steep climb. The path then curves to the right and leads to the statue of Notre-Dame des Alpages on its rocky promontory.
(6) Continue climbing along a faint path for a few more metres until you reach a "flat" area above the statue, where you can enjoy the panoramic view.
(7) Retrace your steps back to the fork at the Croix de Ptiouta.
(4) Leave the mountain track and take the grassy path on the left until you reach the end of the descent in front of a chalet.
(8) Turn 90° left onto a barely visible path. Cross the meadow and reach the woods, keeping the start of the valley on your left. Continue along the path, which becomes well marked in the undergrowth. After several wide bends, leave the woods and pass several chalets. Reach a cross path at the corner of a house.
(9) Turn right onto a slight incline and follow the path. Cross a wood and continue down a gentle slope. After passing two streams, you will find the route you took on the way up at the edge of the wood.
(2) Take the path downhill to the left and follow the same route back to the village square of La Giettaz (S/E).
