Description of the walk

Park, for example, in the Rotonde underground car park.
If you exit the car park via the north exit, take Avenue Giuseppe Verdi on the right to reach Place du Général de Gaulle, where the Tourist Office is located.

(S/E) With your back to the Tourist Office, head right. Cross the square, cross Avenue des Belges and walk past the Apple store. Cross Avenue Victor Hugo and continue along Rue Mazarine until you reach Rue Villars.
Turn into this street. Note the Protestant church on your right as you pass. At the end of the street, cross Rue Laroque, turning right to reach Rue Cardinale.

(1) Turn left and stroll down this narrow street, where you’ll find the Collège Mignet halfway along. Cross the Place des Quatre Dauphins and end up opposite the Church of Saint-Jean-de-Malte and next to the Musée Granet.
Walk past the church and, at Rue d’Italie, turn left until you reach Rue du Maréchal Joffre.

(2) Turn into this street to pass the Chapelle des Pénitents Blancs, situated between Rue Clovis Hugues and Rue du Pavillon. At the latter street, turn left to reach Rue de l’Opéra. Turn left and, further on, cross Place Forbin.
Head towards Cours Mirabeau, to the left of the Fontaine du Roi René. Continue to the Café de Paris, on the corner of Rue Clémenceau.
Turn right and you’ll come to Place Saint-Honoré. Cross it diagonally to take Rue des Bagniers.
In front of the fountain of the same name, follow Rue des Chapeliers to the right, then, keeping to the right, take Rue Bouèno Carrièro, just below the public toilets. Walk alongside the Palais de Justice via Rue Monclar.

(3) Cross Place des Prêcheurs. Note the architecture of the façades of the Palais de Justice and the Église de la Madeleine. After Rue Suffren, you will find the École-Musée Sainte-Catherine de Sienne. Head towards Rue Boulegon.
Walk up this street and continue along Rue Paul Bert until you reach the Clock Tower.

(4) Turn right onto Rue Gaston de Saporta. Find Rue du Bon Pasteur, near Saint-Sauveur Cathedral. Head down Rue du Bon Pasteur until you reach the Sexius Baths.

(5) Walk along Avenue des Thermes, then Cours Sexius. Cross Avenue Napoléon Bonaparte and walk up it to the left to reach the Tourist Office (S/E).

A lovely route, which isn’t too busy at this time of year. There are several possible detours, including one to the Garlaban viewpoint.

A pleasant route that offers a lovely overview of the historic heart of the city, with a specific theme. It lends itself to various variations through the narrow streets and passageways.
The Granet Museum is located at the start of the route and is well worth a visit.
