Access: when you arrive in Douarnenez, follow the signs for Port Rhu. Drive along the estuary and park on the right in the car park, just after the MJC. There are also plenty of parking spaces along the quays.
(S/E) From the car park, take the stairs up to a sports hall and the street, turn right then left into Impasse Jacques Giocondi.
At the end, at the stop sign, go down to the left for a few metres, then turn right into Rue du Petit-Thouars (the name is somewhat hidden by ivy), which descends towards Plage des Dames (view of the fishing port and Douarnenez Bay).
White and redGR®® markings
(1) After crossing the boulevard, follow the cliff path on the left that runs along the sea (view of Île Tristan and Tréboul). Pass the car park and take the Jean Marin footbridge on the right to cross the harbour basin.
No markings
Leave theGR®® trail climbing to the right and turn left to follow a path along the basin. Continue south. At the beginning of the street, note a house on the right with beautiful sculptures in the windows. Pass a staircase on the right and reach another one that leads up to the Grand Pont (view of Port Rhu and Tristan Island to the north).
(2) Turn right towards the roundabout. On the right are the buildings of the Functional Rehabilitation Centre, located on the site of the former railway station. Go around the roundabout on the left and follow Rue de Pors An Eostic via the pedestrian crossing (road sign for Poullan/Mer). Reach the end of the Voie Verte (sign).
Yellow markings (somewhat faded)
(3) Turn left onto this old Douarnenez-Quimper railway line, known here as the "Promenade Paul-Édouard Paulet", and follow this wide path overlooking the Pouldavid estuary. Between the trees, you can see a graveyard of old boats. This will be more visible from the other side of the cove. Reach a street at a barrier and the old gatekeeper's house and leave the Greenway, which continues opposite.
(4) Follow this street to the left on the pavement and at the first fork, turn left onto Boulevard du Général de Gaulle, which runs along the ria (wide pedestrian crossing). Pass the shipbuilding workshops on your right (Les Ateliers de l'Enfer then Treizour) and on your left, you will see the old boat cemetery. Continue along the marina and pass under the road bridge connecting Douarnenez to Tréboul.
(5) When you reach the pontoons of Port Rhu, the museum port, continue straight ahead. Take the time to admire the different boats in the dry dock (a treat for photography enthusiasts).
Turn right to pass through Place de l'Enfer, where the Fishing Museum and media library (event venue) are located, then continue along the quay. Pass the footbridge you crossed at the start of the route and return to the car park on the right (S/E).
