Description of the walk

Departure from the bivouac in the Clapouse pastures.
(S) Head north-west across the mountain pasture to reach the clearly visible edge of the larch forest. The climb is steep and mostly off-trail.
Then join thePR® Tour des Monges (yellow markings).

(1) At the edge of the woods, begin a long traverse that leads to the Col de la Crête du Raus.

(2) Begin the descent that leads to a clearly visible unnamed pass, which is the start of the Serriéres les Cabanes ridge. Stay on this ridge to reach the Col de la Sapie (signpost) separating this ridge from that of the Clôt des Martres.

(3) Take the path on the left to begin the descent, still following the PR®. Cross the woods and you will come to a wide track.

(4) Turn left, join the Pélenquine track and cross the Ravin de la Bastié torrent on the Pont du Piouret bridge.

(5) Continue along the track until you reach the crossroads at the source of the Peyrouse.

(6) Rejoin theGR®6coming from Faissal. Shortly before Authon, theGR®6branches off to the right. Ignore it and stay on the track to reach Authon and the car park (E).

Notes

This route, completed in May, included a section covered in snow. This stage, from the exit of the larch forest to the Raus ridge, was mainly on snow-covered ground. Although the snow made walking easy, in places the steep slope can be very dangerous if the snow is frozen. Therefore, please exercise caution when planning this hike.

Still quite a lot of snow.

I mapped out this route with my 11-year-old son. For a first experience in the Alps, it's a route I would recommend.
For your information, we came across a couple on horseback, and the entire route seems feasible.
The only downside is that there are too many forest paths.
A small correction if I may: I followed the route on Garmin Fenix 6X Pro, and although the route is generally accurate, the waypoints are too far apart, which makes it imprecise in the details.
I can send you my GPX track to help improve the accuracy of the route if you like.

thank you for your detailed description. The return journey after a pleasant campsite is truly beautiful, with stunning views of the Alps and a pleasant trail along the ridge. I thoroughly enjoyed myself.
