Description of the walk

Access to car park

From Haguenau town centre, follow signs for Soufflenheim. Once you reach the D1063 (Route de Soufflenheim), turn left onto Route de Schwabwiller, which leads directly to the Gros-Chêne car park.

Signage for people with reduced mobility

(S/E) The trail starts to the left of the inn, after the Club Vosgien signs and the information board about this route.

(1) At the fork where there are two benches, take the path on the right. Cross a forest lane at the next intersection and continue straight ahead.

(2) After about 200 m, turn left. At the end of the path, turn left again. Cross the forest lane again and continue straight ahead. After about 150 m, you will reach the fork at the start with the two benches.

(1) Continue straight ahead to return to the Gros-Chêne area (S/E).

Notes

Don't forget to pick up a tourist map of the Haguenau Forest of Exceptional Beauty, available at the Haguenau Region Tourist Office, which shows the plot numbers marked on the trees at intersections. This makes it very easy to find your way around the undivided forest!

The Trail for People with Reduced Mobility, Tourist Office information sheet.

At the start of the trail, there are two parking spaces reserved for people with reduced mobility. The slopes along the route comply with standards (less than 5%) and there are two equally spaced rest stops with adapted furniture. The ground is perfectly compacted and covered with fine gravel. The signage is also adapted, appearing both on trees and on posts at wheelchair height.

A picnic table is available at the left-hand bend of stage (2).

Well done.
What a great idea to publish a walk for people with reduced mobility!
When you think about it, it makes perfect sense – many of us with disabilities would like to go on outings that are suitable for us – and I wonder if this shouldn't be a category on Visorando. From now on, when I publish a walk, I'll try to include practical information about whether it's accessible to wheelchair users, for example.
