A countryside walk in Briis-Sous-Forges

Head to Place de la Libération in Briis-sous-Forges, where the town hall and post office are located.

(S/E) Opposite the town hall, turn left, passing the Maison des Jeunes et de la Vie Associative. Go down the stone steps, pass under the archway and turn right into Rue de l’Armée Patton. This street curves slightly to the left.

(1) At the junction, continue along Rue Charles Gaudin until you reach the RD97. Cross it, taking care of the traffic.

(2) Turn left onto Chemin de Béchereau, which is a dirt track suitable for vehicles. Pass through the two tunnels under the A10 motorway and the TGV railway line. Pass the sewage treatment works on your right, then cross the bridge over the Ruisseau de la Prédecelle and continue until you reach the D131.

(3) At the end of the track, join the D131 to the right, heading towards Vaugrigneuse, and take care of the traffic. After about 50 metres, turn left onto the small tarmac road and continue to the first bend on this road.

(4) Turn left onto the dirt track. At the junction with the D152, cross it – taking care of traffic – and continue straight ahead on the dirt track, which turns left towards the TGV railway line, passing under a power line.

(5) Follow the railway line, separated from it by a wooded area, pass under a power line again and, at the end of the dirt track, you’ll reach the D97.

(6) Turn left onto the departmental road and cross it, taking care to watch out for traffic. Pass under the bridges of the TGV railway line and the A10 motorway. Enter Briis-sous-Forges by continuing straight ahead along the side street, Rue Marguerite Sénéchal, then carry on along Rue Marcel Quinet. Cross Rue du Lieutenant Lemoal at the pedestrian crossing and arrive at Place de la Libération, where the town hall is located (S/E).

There is no drinking water available.
You can take shelter in the tunnels between points (2) and (3) and under the bridges at point (6).
Wear sturdy walking shoes, as the path across the fields can get very muddy in wet weather.
