Alongside the Aerotrain track

A walk following part of the old Aerotrain track, with its many information boards, then a route across fields, almost flat.

A GPS or the Visorando app is useful for this walk, which was created in 2014; see reviews

Description of the walk

Park in the car park at the Leclerc in Gometz.

(S/E) Follow the cycle path heading north-east for about 200m (running alongside the bypass, which is in a tunnel).

(1) Take the path on the right which quickly turns south-west (it runs alongside the bypass but heads south). 700m further on, when you reach the road coming from Roussigny, turn right for 50m to go up the small ramp on the left leading to the old Aérotrain track.

(2) Leave this track almost 2 km further on, just before a bridge over a small road; turn left onto an access path leading to the road. Follow this road, which is also theGR®11, marked in red and white. Pass the Bénerie rest stop.
At the small roundabout, take the road straight ahead. Reach the hamlet of Roussigny.

(3) Leave theGR®11here and take the road on the left for 300m, then the path on the right. Join the D131 road.

(4) At the junction, straight ahead (a slight left-right bend), 700 metres further on, a path joins from the right; follow it straight ahead, then, 200 metres further on, take the grassy path on the right.
You’ll arrive at the hamlet of La Brosse.

(5) Take the road straight ahead, then the path that continues from it.
Follow the signposted hiking trail.
Carry on straight ahead at the first path junction, then turn left at the second junction, as indicated by the signposts. You’ll reach theGRP® du Hurepoix junction.

(6) Enter the forest; the path descends gently at first, then a little more steeply. After crossing the stream, the path climbs steeply. You’ll come out onto the road.

(7) Turn left, passing by the small cemetery.
Follow the road which runs past the castle, turns due north; leave the GRP® here.
Head towards the hamlet of Villeziers. Follow the signposts leading to the pedestrian tunnel under the motorway.

(8) When you reach the car park at the Les Ulis shopping centre, turn left.
Head for the exit, turn opposite and walk alongside the secondary school. The road becomes a cycle path; follow it.

(9) At the hamlet of Saint Clair, turn right (Viaduc des Fauvettes) but only for 100m, as you must then turn left onto a winding path. You’ll emerge near a stadium. Turn right for 10 metres, then immediately left across the sports grounds. Join a small road which takes you to the roundabout at the northern end of the Gometz bypass. Take the cycle path towards the tunnel.

(1) Follow the outward route back to the car park (S/E).

We completed this walk on 4 May 2026 in the rain, starting from the car park of the LECLERC supermarket, with a planned shortcut at point 7 to shorten the route by continuing straight on (GR du PAYS HUREPOIX) to Gometz Le Chatel
3 comments:
1-- In the start/finish section, please add that the route starts behind the shop on the right and change the name: LECLERC instead of SUPER U
2-- At point 4, to find the grassy path easily, it is located before a small copse and follows a power line.
3-- At point 6, we had to turn back; the path is blocked by a huge tree trunk, and further on there is a fenced-off section. No information is displayed; at point 5, at the exit of the hamlet, there was just a roadworks sign indicating the road was closed.
It would appear that the right of way through this woodland (private??) has been removed.
It’s a shame, as this route was interesting, following the old Aerotrain track with its information boards.
For your information, I have reported the incident on the SURICATE website

Hello,

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to share my thoughts on this circular loop, as we encountered several problems
1- Stage 4) We couldn’t find the grassy path, so we carried on straight ahead and turned onto the road for 200 metres before rejoining the road through the hamlet of La Brosse
2- Stage 5) We couldn’t find any hiking trail markers (had they been removed? hidden?), and then we couldn’t find the first signposted junction; we turned when a marker clearly indicated to turn left. Furthermore, the path does not appear to be called a GRP but a ‘grande boucle de randonnée’; it would also have been helpful to point out that the signposting indicated the direction of St Jean de Beauregard.
3-Stage 7 = crossing Villeziers: there were no signposts leading to the tunnel, so we had to ask for directions; it would be worth noting that you need to turn right at the junction (there are two options at this point: turn left or right)
4-Stage 9: the description needs to be revised urgently regarding the section through the stadium, as apart from a small path opposite, there were no details on how to follow the ‘small road’ indicated. We eventually reached the road to St Jean de Beauregard, but was that really the correct route? It would be helpful to indicate the direction to follow and the names of the roads once you have crossed the stadium

In conclusion, the route description for this rather pleasant walk needs a bit of a tidy-up

Kind regards

Sylvie

Walk taken on 9 September 2018 in hot weather. Starting point: Bures-sur-Yvette station.

We walked part of this route in a circular fashion to extend the Viaduc des Fauvettes walk,
passing through the hamlet of Grivery, the Étoile crossroads, La Brosse, St-Jean-de-Beauregard and Grivery – that is, points 5 to 7.

Hello,
Enjoy your walk, but do take care to avoid it in very hot weather, as the stretch from the Aérotrain track exit to the Vandrille woods is exposed.
For those who still have some energy left, as you leave the Les Ulis housing estate, take a small path on the right that leads into the woodland and takes you to the Fauvettes viaduct, then rejoin the original route.
Thank you for this lovely walk

Those with a passion for the history of the Aérotrain will find the first part of the walk particularly interesting. Others, however, may be disappointed by the long straight stretches and grassy paths. The second part is more varied and enjoyable.
The route description is very brief. With the map, and after a bit of hesitation, we managed to find our way there anyway. Two important points to note, however:

At the start: you might spend ages looking for the Super U shop. It changed its name in January 2018 and is now a Leclerc!

Point (9) at St Clair: There is no signposted ‘Coulée Verte’ path at this point; you must follow the ‘Viaduc des Fauvettes’. However, the junction 100 metres further on does have a ‘Coulée Verte’ sign, but you must not follow it under any circumstances, as it directs you to turn right when you actually need to turn left!

A lovely walk that took me 4 hours
The route is varied
One drawback is that the signposting towards the end of the route – which is quite urban – isn’t precise enough; there are a few junctions in Saint-Clair and beyond where you might hesitate, and this could do with some additional guidance
