Head to El Cortalet, situated south-east of Castello d’Empuriès, and park in the pay-and-display car park (€5 in September 2015).

(S/E) From the car park, head towards the building which serves as a visitor centre and provides information leaflets about the park. With your back to the entrance courtyard, take a few steps to the right where you’ll find information and signposts. Turn left onto theGR®®92(mediterrani) towards Platja – Riu Fluvia.
Follow a narrow path which crosses a footbridge and very quickly joins a wider path. Continue along this path to the left, which is lined with benches and viewing points; this will be the main route to the beach.
Pass a wildlife rehabilitation centre on your right (not open to visitors), first turn left then right and continue along the path.
100 m further on, turn left at the junction to reach the Aguait de las Gantes, a facility where you can observe wildlife in complete privacy.
N.B. Information boards about the wildlife are provided at all the observation points.
(1) Retrace your steps to the main path and continue to the left.
20 m further on, a footbridge on the right offers a bird’s-eye view of a fallow deer enclosure and its hedgerows fitted with platforms housing stork nests (Observatori de les Daines).
Return to the main path and turn right for about 300 m until you reach the entrance to the Observatori Casot de la Bomba on the left.
Return once again to the main path and turn left for about 500 metres until, on the left at a bend, you find the footbridge leading to the Observatori Pallejà.
(2) Turn round and continue left along theGR®®, cross a footbridge and a gate to reach a U-shaped junction.
No signposting
(3) Leave the path on the left for a moment and head right along the pond (benches on the right-hand side provide another spot to stop and observe the wildlife).
100 metres further on, on the right, is the Observatori d’en Biel, the only one with two storeys.
Return to the path and continue to the right towards the towers, which are clearly visible.
Pass the toilets (on your right) and head for the first tower, the Observatori Senillosa; the other three are former silos and are not accessible.
(4) A first flight of 79 steps offers a fine view of the surrounding area, but the additional 13 steps provide an even more interesting panorama and an orientation board.
Head back down and retrace your steps to the junction with theGR®® and the benches on your left.

(3) Turn right and follow the path that runs alongside the pond. About 250 m further on, on the left-hand side, is the Aguait del Gall Marí, a shelter offering views of the largest pond. Continue along the path, which curves to the right and then to the left (the path on the right is inaccessible). Cross a long footbridge over a wetland area to reach a junction.
Turn left and, 10 metres further on, you’ll find the turn-off to the left leading to the Aguait del Bruel (5).
(5) Return to the path and turn left. 200 m further on, the path veers left as it approaches some buildings. Shortly afterwards, just before crossing a canal, turn left to head towards the Aguait de la Massona.
(6) Return to the main path, turn left, cross the canal and continue. Shortly afterwards, you’ll reach a water control structure; walk alongside the campsite buildings until you reach a gate.
Go through the barrier and turn left to climb a footbridge leading to the Observatori les Arpelles (open-air). Continue along the path to the left and head for Platja de Can Comes.

(7) Follow the beach to the left, keeping well to the right of the large posts marking the boundary of the park.
After about 1.8 km along the beach, the posts turn 90° to the left. Do not follow them any further, but head slightly further to the right towards a watchtower and yellow signs. N.B. This is a naturist area.
(8) When you reach the signs, turn left towards El Cortalet onto a stony track. Running parallel to this track is a path that allows you to avoid the track, which is very often flooded; follow it until you reach a junction. Turn left to reach another junction 100 metres further on.
(9) Ignore the path on the right, which leads to other viewing points, and carry on straight ahead towards El Cortalet, staying on the main path.
When you reach a junction with a signpost and an information board about the wildlife, turn left to find the Aguait dels Roncaires.
(10) Return to the path and head left until you reach a gate. Take the path on the left, then 20 m further on, turn left again to reach the Aguait Quim Franch.
Retrace your steps and turn left to return to El Cortalet and the car park (S/E).
