Through the hamlets of Béteille and Belpech to Saint-André-de-Najac

A lovely hike starting from the hamlet of Béteille in Saint-André-de-Najac and heading towards the hamlet of Belpech, passing through country lanes and forests, with the River Aveyron flowing gently in the distance. Beautiful panoramic views and, just after passing through the hamlet of Béteille, views of the Château de Najac.

Description of the walk

Park near the church in Béteille.

Hiking trail no. 8

(S/E) With your back to the church, turn right and go between two walls (houses nos. 61 and 76). Opposite house no. 17, turn left, then, in front of a white cross, take the road and go between two farms.

(1) At a stone cross, follow the road to La Fage, where you will find another cross.

(2) Go down to the left until you reach a crossroads at a place called Les Carbonniers.

(3) Take the small carriage road on the right and head towards a pond (on the right, you will see Najac Castle). Pass in front of a sheepfold and enter a wood.

(4) Continue downhill until you reach a bend, where you turn right (ignore the left turn) until you reach a stream, then climb back up to the next one. Continue climbing. At a bend, ignore a small path on the right that climbs very steeply and arrive at a third stream and a path on the right.

(5) Continue climbing on the left and arrive at a fork at the edge of a meadow. (Do not take the path that descends to the left).

(6) Continue to the right, between two meadows, to the tarmac road and towards the hamlet of Belpech. After the first houses, climb up to a small crossroads.

(7) Then descend to the right, between two houses on Route du Bourel, walk along a grove and, after a stream, start climbing back up to the village of Béteille. At the war memorial by the pond, turn right onto the road to return to the starting point (S/E).

A lovely, well-signposted walk.
Lacks a few points of interest
But pleasant nonetheless
