Park in the square in front of the church in Avezé.
(S/E) Take the D59 towards Préval. After the cross, you will come to a crossroads with a wide stone path.
(1) Turn left onto it to cross the meadow. Follow this path for 300 metres and turn right onto a grassy path that joins a tarmac road. Cross it and take a tarmac path that climbs up to a place called La Ponjardière.
(2) Take a path on the left that climbs uphill and, at an intersection before the woods, take a path that branches off to the left in a hairpin bend. Follow it to the Coupenière farm. At the farmyard exit, leave the stony path and take a small sunken path on the right that leads to the stony path that goes to a level crossing on the Souvigné-sur-Même road.
(3) Follow the tarmac road to the right. Then take a gravel path for 300 metres, which climbs gently towards the hillside. It narrows to a narrow dirt track for 150 metres and arrives at a small wood. Head to the right for 50 metres, where the path climbs steeply to the edge of a meadow. The path follows the fence on the right, which runs around the meadow at the edge of a wood for 150 metres until you reach a first gate, which you go through, then 5 metres further on, a second gate, which you also go through to arrive at a wide dirt track.
(4) Follow this path to the right. At the next junction, leave it on the left and take a stony path. Walk along the fence of the Milsandière stud farm. Further on, take a small, narrow path on the left, which is often wet, and join a dirt track, turning right. Follow this track to discover the village of Préval below. This path leads to a tarmac track. Take it on the left to reach a tarmac road (D59) at a place called L'Orgerie.
(5) Cross the D59 and take a gravel path. Leave it further on to the right and follow this gravel path towards the woods. Enter the woods and you will come to a meadow. Turn right onto a dirt track that descends to a small road.
(6) Follow this road to the left and pass the locality of Les Fougerolles. Turn right onto a dirt track that passes in front of the farmhouse and climbs towards the woods. At the top, you will come to a gravel path. Follow it to the right, passing several houses. The path then narrows and becomes a very narrow downhill trail. Keep following it to the right until you reach a gravel path that climbs from the valley to a place called Le Tertre.
(7) Go down this path and ignore the first turn-off on the right. Before reaching the railway bridge, take a grassy path on the right (not shown on the map) that runs alongside the railway line. You will reach a tarmac road at a place called La Roche and continue straight ahead. You will come out onto the D59, follow it to the left and pass under the railway bridge. Continue straight ahead until you reach the crossroads you took on the way there.
(1) Continue straight ahead on the outward route to return to the church car park (S/E).
To think I hesitated to go on this hike. In the middle of May, it's a feast for the eyes, with flowers blooming everywhere. Pretty little trails, sunken paths; some with fairly tall grass but still passable. The signs are clear. Don't hesitate for a moment, the view is superb.
