Ornacieux walks

This route, which passes by two viewpoint indicators, offers amazing views over plaine de la Bièvre and the Vercors and the Chartreuse mountain ranges.

You climb the hillside of La Côte Saint-André (ND de Sciez) from where you have a remarkable view: from the Monts du Pilat in the west to the Mont du Chat in the north-east, passing through the Vercors, Belledonne and Chartreuse. From certain vantage points, on clear days you can even see the summit of Mont Blanc. On the way back, you will pass by the village's main attractions.

An easy walk among the ponds in the heart of the Nantoin Forest. At the end of the walk, you will be rewarded with a splendid view of the Liers plain, the Chartreuse, the Alps and the Vercors.

In the heart of the Bonnevaux Forest, this is an easy, short walk with plenty of shade in summer. You will walk alongside several ponds.

A short walk on the moraine between the Bièvre and Liers plains, with views of the surrounding mountains. You will go to the Château de Bocsozel and return via the Château Pointière.

An easy route alternating between hills, forests, ponds and views of the mountains in the distance. A superb 360° panorama in the village of Pommiers-de-Beaurepaire.

This is an easy walk that takes you past Dauphiné houses, the ponds of Saint-Didier-de-Bizonnes and the Brosses forest. In the second part of the walk, you will enjoy some beautiful views of the surrounding peaks (even the summit of Mont Blanc).

Wind through the valleys between Brion and Saint-Michel-de-Saint-Geoirs, then climb up to the ridge where you will have 360° views of Mezenc, Pilat, the Plaine de la Bièvre, the Chartreuse, Belledone, and the Vercors. End by walking through Mouillasson forest to get back to your vehicle.

This is a short walk, best enjoyed on a clear day. It offers exceptional panoramic views stretching from the Monts de l'Ain to the peaks of the eastern Vercors, via the Dent du Chat, Mont Blanc, the Chartreuse, the Belledonne peaks, Taillefer and Dévoluy. There are no particular difficulties along the route.

You will cross the Valloire plain, surrounded by fields and orchards in Lens Lestang, until you reach the Priory of Manthes. Information boards tell you about mulberry and pear trees. Then you climb up to the Madone de Moras and return along a path well sheltered from the sun, along the moraine. On the way, you can admire the Château du Double.

From the village of Izeaux, you climb up to the Domaine de Parménie where you can admire the charming Chapelle de Notre-Dame de la Croix. From the orientation table, you will have a panoramic view from the Mont du Chat in the Ain to the peaks of the north-east of the Vercors.

This is a fairly short trail through the village of Izeaux. It takes you around the centre of the village, and offers some lovely views of the village.Take a few 'tracolets' through the heart of the village, and you'll discover some of the remarkable features of Izeaux.

An easy walk, ideal in spring when the fruit trees are in bloom. Several points of interest for children. On the way, you can see the priory of Manthes, visit an extraordinary garden created by a disciple of the facteur Cheval, tour the Château du Double and search for a riddle.

A forest where you feel at peace. According to legend, the Vallin forest in the commune of Saint-Victor-de-Cessieu was frequented by druids and Templars who came to enjoy its healing properties. Several places in the forest are said to be full of energy, and there is a special energy in this place that confuses compasses. It is a pretty forest of beech, oak and hazel trees. Part of the forest has been replanted with Douglas firs, cherry trees and red oaks.

Immerse yourself in the Chambaran Forest from the Trappe. Head to Gargamelle, a ruin in a clearing, to see the Smurfs or, if not, deer or roe deer. Walk part of the Way of St James in Chambaran. Please note: this is an old, manual GPS track, see reviews

A fairly easy hike alternating between forest trails and wide open views. Best done in dry weather with clear skies to make the most of the views of the Alps and the beautiful hills and valleys at the start of the route. This is an opportunity to discover the Château de Septème.

A family walk surrounded by works of art. With the added bonus of a splendid view of the Vercors.

This is a pleasant walk. You will pass through walnut groves and the valleys of the Chambarans foothills, enjoy the undergrowth and, at the end, take in the exceptional views of the Pre-Alps and the Alps, all enhanced by the sculptures of the "Arts aux 4 vents" at the end of the trail.
